A guy turned left too soon and swiped my front bumper (I was turning left and approaching the intersection). He didn't have insurance or a plate, and his vehicle was towed, and he was ticketed.

Now he's making a claim (or at lease lawyered up I'm guessing to claim injuries) saying I hit him. Dude turned a year too early, entered my lane, and took my bumper with him. I thought we were no pay no play in Louisiana.

Do you have uninsured motorist on your insurance policy? If so let them handle the claim let them know there is a police report filed

Pay to play only applies to the portion of the claim that would be covered by the state minimum ($15k/$25k). They can still make a claim for the excess.

He isn't eligible to collect the first $15k of his damages, for starters.

I do. Oddly enough the police report said I had no insurance and that my car was towed. It also said I claimed that I turned to early and hit him. LOL. I think the officer may have been dislexic or just got confused when he wrote it.

If your story is accurate, people like him need to be flogged weekly for a few years.

Posts like this in insurance related threads is why I have zero faith this board knows what it's talking about when it comes to insurance.

Now you have two battles to fight. Congratulations on the massive headaches coming your way.

Your insurance company should handle it if you have full coverage. Mine always has at least.

This motherfricking state.

Get a lawyer. Either that or you're taking the rap.

Hell, even with a lawyer you're probably taking the rap.

Sorry but that's what you get for living here.
