Thumb pointed at her instead of wrapped around her hand

In my experience it's more of a finger portion of the hand handshake, you don't get all the way in there like you do with a guy. Not weak, but less grippy.
Unless you're shaking hands with a WNBA player it comes pretty naturally

I always can tell when a dude is a blowhard because he grips the shite out of my hand. Like okay dude…. Yeah you’re the alpha bud.
For ladies you always just wanna go with the hug if she’s above an OT 5

It's a timing thing. You don't want to come across as dainty if she has been taught to give a firm shake.
Side note: I can't stand when you're going to shake a guy's hand and he grabs your damned fingers like he was trying to catch a fish in pond. Like slow down bud, we're not going anywhere

Yea this is the problem. "I'm not a woman, I'm a person! Treat me like anyone else!" *treats her like anyone else* "WTF! I'm a lady, and you're being mean!"
In the matriarchy we live in, nothing a man does is correct.

I shake hands with a woman the same as a man.
Equal rights, equal hand shakes

The least alpha guy that I know shakes hands like this, it’s fricking annoying

There are lots of assholes like that, but I feel like most of them are in their 60s now. The trick is you gotta get the webbing between your thumb and forefinger into the webbing of the other person's hand. If you go in for a weak hand shake they will crush your fingers.

Lightly chuckle then say “good one, now where’s your husband”

Agree with this. Had OP gone in soft and the female had a firm handshake, she would have been just have offended (may have even called him out)

Had a boss that would do that to try to get people to flinch as a power move. Thankfully for me, this was one of my dad's go-to moves when he needed to get our attention in public and didn't want to cause a scene (he had to do it often

shake her left hand and check her ring finger

The first step is to approach the lady in the proper manner.
After the usual brief greeting is done only then do you shake her hand.

If it's in a business setting, treat her like a man. Shake her hand firmly, but gently. It's not a power move, it's just respectful.
If she has an issue with it, explain to her the history of women in the workplace, and how she'd likely be happier at home raising children. If she complains that you're "mansplaining," carefully let her know that she's just woman dumb.

I believe in shaking everyone's hand firmly, but just how firm depends on how they initially grip your hand. You may think your grip is average firm, but smaller bodies may experience it like a deathgrip.

If she is hot go for the soft kiss on the back of her hand and say something smooth - preferably in French.
If she’s fugly just nod and ask for your coffee black.

As you shake the hand of a woman, proper etiquette is to take your pinky finger and lightly rub the palm of her hand as you shake hands.

If you're shaking hands in a group and a woman is in the mix, shake her hand too. Hugs just make it weird. For both business and friend groups.
