Last spring in a cabin in Pigeon Forge. Eagles Ridge was the place.

Hot Tub on the back deck with a grill after hiking, zip lining, wine tastings or just reading.

Was a great week.

I've done that too. Our trip was 10 days on a 50 ft motor boat. I literly cried when I had to come home. One of our guys was experienced in large boats. Caught lobsters and raided avocado trees in Tortola.

Went to Miami over the summer and was genuinely relaxed when I got back. We didn’t do much outside chill on the beach and walk around the city. ‘Twas nice

Went to Aruba last year for our anniversary. By far the most relaxing vacation I have ever taken.
I know it's not in the States but that's all I got

Go somewhere you don’t get a cell signal, enjoy the beauty of nature.

Most relaxing places like that are the mountains, although that means hiking, or a remote beach. For our honeymoon we spent 2 nights in Tulum at a beach house with no electricity. House was about 4 miles down a dirt road along the beach away from civilization. We saw one person for those two days, the guide that brought us to the remote beach house that would come bring us ice and drinks and prepare our meals. Sitting on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world where all you see is beach and beautiful water with not another human in sight is relaxation.

Relaxing is not the mountains or forests to me. Don't get me wrong, I love the outdoors but if I go to the mountains or forests, I'l going to do some hiking, horseback riding, rafting, cycling, train running, fishing, etc.

When I go to the beach I pretty much sit my arse in the chair and dont do anything....which is probably why I don't go to the beach very often.

Sandal's Whitehouse.

It is one of their more isolated resorts. Sex, food, beach = relaxation.

I never think about going on vacation to relax. When I go on vacation I want to have fun, do stuff, and explore. I can relax at home. When I go on vacation I want an experience.

our role as fathers is to plan for and protect our family, the most relaxing vacations we have ever been on, regardless of the length or location, are those that my wife and children thoroughly enjoyed and still talk about them

I totally agree with your sentiment, but that isn't what the OP asked about.

My last vacation in July included these experiences:

jet boat and geothermal waterfall

street luge

Cathedral shark dive

We took a river cruise in Europe last fall over thanksgiving we didn’t have to worry about anything for 7 days. Especially toting luggage.
Yelllowstone and Banff were awesome but we didn’t camp in the same place twice

Maldives. If you can afford it.

Smoky Mountains in a luxury cabin towards the top. Again, not cheap.

Beaver Creek ski/snowboarding. A bit touristy but not ultra ultra expensive, and the have fresh cookies ready for you when you come back!
