My dad got pissed we kept losing the zenith tv remote and the VCR remote, which was like a skinny deck of cards. So he took a 1 foot long 2x4 and hollowed out appropriate sized cavities on both sides then screwed strips of wood to retain them. It was impossible to lose the remotes after that. Looking back it was genius and I appreciate pate t and am a better person for having gone through it.

I did your Mom.

That’s as close to this thread as I’ll get tonight.

Got pissed off at me because my friend slammed the back door to his Mercury Marquis when he was getting out.

My mom said "what did you want him to do, throw his leg out to block the door and get it broken?"

My dad without missing a heartbeat "bones will heal."

Sat on his arse while he walked me through how to change the belt on his lawnmower... then made me cut the grass

That was after I picked up all the sticks on 2.5 acres while he sat on the tractor and pulled the trailer behind... with me following, loading it up

When we were young teens, we lost one of my dad's shovels in the woods while trying to build a clubhouse/fort. Someone must have stolen it when we left it overnight.

So he goes to Drill one weekend and comes home with a friend towing a trailer. On it were two large metal cabinets. He put all his tools and important shite in the in these cabinets and locked them with two shiny new Master Locks. For weeks afterwards he walked around the house randomly barking at us, "Mastah Lockkkkkk!" in an 80s movie trailer growl.
We knew the days of frickin with dad's shite were over. 35 years later I have 3 of his shovels and his axe in my garage.

The day I was strong enough to push a lawn mower was the last day he did a lick of yard work.

Tanned my backside when I swerved out of my lane while growing up. After a couple of those learning experiences, I drove really straight and in between the lines for the most part. I didn’t care much for corporal punishment worthy errors on my side.

The trick is to hold it so that the light is helping from his viewpoint, not yours. It took me a while to figure that out. Te sad part was that I didn’t learn much about anything while I was a light monkey.

That is awesome.

When you’ve had enough…you’ve had enough.

I’d use his idea, but we can’t find the remote.

Worked two jobs when I was little to help us stay afloat. Got promoted and dedicated his adult life to managing a retail store so that I could have a decent middle class upbringing.
