Every time he’d pump gas he’d stick his face in the window and wait for us to look up. When we looked up he’d stick out his tongue and we’d crack up. He still does that to this day

Dad taught me how to drive a stick shift chevy pickup when I was 6 so I could drive while he threw square bales off the back feeding cattle.
I glued a 8 foot piece of chain to my remote so it wouldn't wander off.

We had a ditch that split our property that the old man was convinced was the source of our mosquito problem(he probably wasn’t wrong). I have a vivid memory of watching him dump a Jerry can length wise along that ditch and lightning it up like the 4th of July.
Another time when he was cleaning out the garage(this is literally one of my first memories in general) he found some gun powder and wasn’t sure if it was still good. He took some of it and made a pile, and then trailed off with a slim line of it like a fuse with the intent of lighting it off. You know, just to test it. When he lit it, it all went up immediately in a fireball that in my 4yo mind looked like Hiroshima. It was some Yosemite Sam looney toons shite. We still laugh about it. Ironically, he would give me endless shite if I tried the same thing today.

Busted the back of Scruffy’s head open during a baseball game and the coach brought him to the ER.
Probably need stitches.
My dad went to the ER, told them Scruffy didn’t need them, and took him home.
Got a nice scar that runs down the back of the head.

That's sappy and gay and hit me in the feelings. It reminds me of my dad. When I was little I knew this about his work:
1. Worked for the DOTD(no idea what it stood for).
2. Was in the National Guard and went to a place called "drill" a weekend every month.
3. Helped Build Bikes at Godchauxs during holiday season.
At 8 yrs old I thought #3 was just a hobby so he could better learn how to put our bikes together and repair our broken chains and flat tires.
He worked his arse off for us.

I just remembered that my dad pulled out the extension ladder, climbed up next to the telephone pole, and voila we had cable tv for a few hours to watch some sporting event. Mom wasn’t happy but he promised to switch it back after the game and he did.

Saved every manual for everything he ever bought.
Today I found out he has the original Nintendo manual, Zapper manual and Nintendo Power insert business reply mail.
He has been carrying this around since the late 80s apparently. We lost the system in 1992.

Provided a middle-class upbringing for six kids as a plumber. Growing up I’d see him come in after we’d all eaten. He’d eat, fall asleep in his chair, go to bed and do the same thing the next day. Somehow he still had time for fishing in the summer.

We were on our way to a metal recycling center, but neither of us knew where it was located. Anyway, we eventually found the place, but before we did we were yelling at each other. It was getting nasty. I don't take shite from no one, especially when I'm not the one who's fricking up. It was his idea to go. At least get a fricking address to the place you going to or call and get some fricking directions. He didn't know the name of the place or where it was located. I was about to lose my fricking mind, which caused me to say some shite a son should never say to his parents or dad. He said something like, "I bet you wish I would just die." I was like, "YOU'RE frickING GOD DAMN RIGHT!!" "YOU MOTHER frickER!" And I meant it at that moment.
Anyway, he gave me the money that we got from the recycling place. I still have that money tucked away in my wallet to remind of that day and how quickly he forgave me. Only dads can do that sort of thing.
