About 8 years I was getting laid off at a previous job. However, if we stayed until the end, we would get a severance package of 6 months pay. I was able to land a job (my current job and much better pay) a week before my termination date so I was able to save my entire severance.

Being born so that I was at LSU from 2003-2007.

I feel for the poor bastards who were there in the Curley years.

That I married the right spouse.

(Corollary: that I didn't marry either of the guys that my parents wanted me to.)

Not actually the luckiest thing, but in the 1st grade I won a cake at school. From then on if there was any game of chance my mom would say “let jeffsdad enter, he is the lucky one in the family.” No matter what… I would imagine even if I got hit and killed by a meteorite she would say this. In truth , I was probably the opposite

Not me but my dad. Had a business meeting go on longer than expected, so he missed a flight that crashed and killed everyone.

On another flight an engine blew up just before the plane lifted off the runway. There was just enough room for the plane to stop before the end of the runway.

Lived through several wrecks and comas stemming from them that should have killed me. Consider myself extremely lucky

Hard to say, I’ve had a lot of luck.

Hit by a car riding my bike when I was a kid. Went flying through the air and managed to somersault over and land on my feet. Broke my foot when I hit, if I’d hit headfirst probably would have killed me.

My wife agreeing to go out with me when I asked her the first time. I out kicked my coverage soooooo bad.

First double eagle, 8 bets down on the last hole, finished 8 bets up.

9th ace. Day before my oldest daughter’s wedding playing with my future son in law. Talk about setting the tone there

Narrowly avoided death whilst riding my crotch rocket on the CCC a few years back.

Lessons learnt.
