Most "public safety" policies in place in 2018 have little to do with safety and are almost exclusively for revenue generation.

Yep. Most small towns in Louisiana are broke as shite and rely on stealing from tax payers driving through their shitholes to keep the lights on

Do they still have the policy where any revenue from speeding tickets under 10 mph over the limit go directly to the state?

I think so though I imagine they've figured out ways around that now

This. Although La is almost as bad.
Your money ensures your protection.

Yea. Anything under 10 gets a warning

Read an article last year about the cops in Pearl River are averaging 271 tickets a month. The mayor of the town claims it is for safety, but we all know it is to generate funds for broke arse towns and cities.

The only state in the south where I don't go above 70 as soon as I hit the state line.
Also, damn near the last state in the South to bump their interstate speeds to 75.

Maybe you should stop breaking the law and then maybe the police setting up speed traps won't trigger you so much.

Wish that was the case in Clinton. Many years ago I got a ticket for going 32 in a 30. Now the ticket was only 85 bucks it was still bullshite to get a ticket for 2mph over.

They all got bullied in grade school and are collectively taking it out on the public via tickets

normally do 5-10 over depend if it’s a highway or interstate. Can’t help it when it goes from 55 to 45 to 35 in matter of half a mile.
Plenty of time to slow down less you ride the short bus or something.

You answered your own question, plus add that all these little shite towns are broke so it's a money grab.

Purposely setting up situations to trap people into speeding tickets, in part by fluctuating the speed limit ostensibly just to be able to trick motorists, doesn't exactly seem like it is in the spirit of the law. You seem naive.
no, I'm fully aware of most of the little towns in La. whose annual budget depends on speeding tickets. But so is everyone else. slow down. Golden Meadow? Livonia? Krotz Springs, Many and just about any shithole north of Alec? Yeah, slow down. If its your first time, live and learn. if you know they are there, that shite is on you. Aint their fault they got their job to do too.
