Came here to say this. I like Virginia but the cops are bad on the highways. The drive from Richmond to Virginia Beach is frustrating.

Florida and Mississippi are so much worse.

17,250 murders in the US in 2016
40,200 traffic deaths in 2016
How dare they concentrate on preventing traffic fatalities. Do the math.

When I drive from Houston to Nola, the worst part for cops is the little worthless shite town called Vinton, just west of Lake Charles. It’s an open stretch of interstate where the speed limit should be 80, but Vinton city cops keep it locked down. I refuse to stop for gas or anything in that city.
Nola to BR is usually pretty clear of cops.

This.
The land where radar detectors are illegal. Virginia State Police stopped an NYPD caravan headed to New Orleans to help after Katrina because they had their blue lights on.

Slow left lane drivers and distracted drivers are all more dangerous than speeders on the interstate.

I got pulled in Forest Hill on the way home for a visit.
I always carry, sometimes heavy. This was one of those times.
As soon as I came to a stop I threw my hands out the window before the officer got out of his vehicle, as he approached me I yelled out I have a concealed carry and a loaded firearm in my lap.
He told me not to move and explained how he was going to secure my weapon and did so. I then gave him my info. He took me to the back of my car and said "Don't move."
Came back after running my info. Told me he was going to put my pistol in the back floor board and then we could continue our conversation.
That's when he found several gun bags pistols and rifles "black ones" with loaded magazines and a lot of ammo. He looked at me and grinned saying I guess I'll put this on the other side.
I thought for sure all my gear was soon to be on the side of the road, not so much.
He certainly came back and asked me several questions and kept me there long enough to see if I got nervous. We had a very good conversation. Then sent me on my way with a sweet ticket!
I was looking for speed limit signs when I got off I-49 saw none. He said I was going 56 in a 35. I said I looked for signs but didn't see any. He said this is what I'm going to do. He wrote me a 3rd offense seat belt violation he said it will be cheaper than the speeding with no points ect. I said thanks. All in all I could have been there for hours but wasn't. Dude was certainly cool and professional. Could have been a brutal experience especially with the amount of firepower and tax stamp items I was carrying.
I'll tell you this. I'm an old coonass but as I was pulling away this song instantly came into my head! LINK
