Really?

I’m over 50 and go to at least try to not become a pot-bellied slob. I will NOT go down easily!

That said, my workouts are based on practicality, form and not ego anymore. My arse is broken from years of heavy lifting…..I did pull off 100 push-ups today;)

Now, get the frick off my lawn!

When I was training at the Y, it was all Latina women who would hog all the squat racks doing their 2+ hour booty blast workout.

For one thing those don’t exist. Secondly, I was strongest in my mid 40s.

Obviously you haven't been around many silent gen people. My parents were silent gen and my mother and father in law are boomers. fricking polar opposites in their behaviors.

What is it with OT posters and the gym?

There was a thread about losing weight by taking shots and you gym rats shaming them.

Now you have posters just shaming older men for just being in the gym.

You guys are the worst. You’re as bad as golf course regulars who walk around like the own the course just because you pay a monthly fee.

60-65 is that grey area for Boomers/ Gen X. I was born in Dec 63 and graduated HS in '82.. Never considered myself a boomer... Never related to them. Always looked at the hippy generation as boomers, and I hated hippies...

I grew up with punk rock and John Hughes films.

I can't wait to see you using a walker at 68...
40+ years olds who don't work out/walk, and retain muscle mass, are decrepit, or dead, by 70...pretty ignorant comment on your part.

"Why do they even go"? Suggest you have a talk with any cardiologist or oncology specialist. Take a long look at the other patients in those waiting rooms. It's not hard to pick out the ones who are probably not going to make it much longer. Per nurses in both offices, 93% of their cancer patients are "grossly out of shape and smoke; 90 % of the heart patients are, again, "grossly out of shape & smoke". By being & staying in shape, I have added 7-8 yrs to my life. Which means I will get to see my grandkids grow to a respectful age. Before you mock us, go spend an hour in either waiting room.

He wasn't shaming them for being in the gym. He was shaming (some of) them for having poor form and lifting heavier than they should due to what I'm assuming is ego. Plenty of young dudes do this as well.
