Keeping with the theme of "why do you live where you live" threads... what is the biggest deterring factor for a potential city or neighborhood?

Climate? Politics? Traffic? COL?

When you drive into a neighborhood and the driveways are full of cars are also parked on the streets at night. Yuk.

COL?

I assume COL is the most obvious choice, as most people are going to live in the best neighborhood they can afford

Gas stations that hardly sell any gas but lots of plate lunches and food. Even worse if they have large colorful signs of the food on their building.

Always drive around a perspective neighborhood at night to see how safe it looks.

Car in the yard.

Serious.

If a realtor drives me into a neighborhood and I see a car parked in the yard / on grass, I tell them to turn around and leave.

Did this numerous times when I worked for the government and transferred around a bunch.

IMO, a car in the yard is one of the first signs that things are going downhill in an area.

I can’t STAND those starter home neighborhoods with garages that are full of shite instead of cars.
