I can understand getting drunk and burning a joe or two, but it feels disgusting to do it sober. What really gets me, is when cig smokers have to get their fix when its 95 degrees outside. Used to see construction baws lighting them up all the time during the summer. Seems like it would make you even more hot.

I'll never understand how people get addicted to cigarettes. Why even start in the 1st place?

What’s the appeal in worrying about what other people do all the time?

I can’t smoke sober. It feels great after a drink or two, but it makes me nauseous when I’m sober.

Nicotine rush. Endorphins

I used to smoke cigs but quit years ago. I still smoke about 3-4 cigars a month.

I chew the shite out of some nicotine gum though. I should probably quit that too

I don’t know why people would start something that they know is both extremely addictive and causes cancer.

I still can’t believe that those companies are allowed to put some of those substances in their products at all.

Most smokers start when they are immature, usually teenagers. There is certainly a social aspect to smoking when young and immature. After a period of time the nicotine addiction starts and the behavioral habit is set, both difficult addictions to break if one has low willpower.

FWIW, I haven't smoked since college, many years ago, and I still crave a cigarette from time to time.

Watch the episode of "The Orville" where the 2 aliens manage to create cigarettes and try them for the first time.

One of them comments: "It's like I've been standing up my whole life, and I just sat down."

There is no appeal. It's a helpless routine of saying 'this is the last pack I'm buying' until you finally give it up for good.

When I was a kid and we went to concerts or music festivals or whatever, practically everyone there smoked cigarettes.

A few years back I took my son to a show at zephyr field. There were about 15 thousand people. I made it a point to count how many were smoking cigarettes. I counted maybe 10 tops.

Social attitudes have changed to such a degree when it comes to smoking, you might as well be shooting heroin.

I was out at a bar one night and as the place started to clear out, you could look at the floor and see countless little nicorette packages everywhere.

This is the answer, I assumed 100% of the population already knew this though. Maybe it was everyone except OP.
