To me it is/was a depression thing. When I’m feeling okay mentally, I can go without a single cigarette...when the depression takes hold, I crave a cigarette unlike any other craving I’ve had before and I’ll chain smoke up to a pack within a night.

I don’t think this is common because I haven’t been able to find anyone else who has this experience, but that’s how it is for me.

I somewhat enjoy it when drinking, rarely when I'm sober.

Does it count when I mix tobacco in with my weed?

nicotine after doing lines of coke is an interesting sensation.

Double Post:

I've done it as well. It happens. And then the next few days in the gym when you pull yourself out of it are hell.

Oh and smoking cigarettes make you look cool see?

Social attitudes have changed to such a degree when it comes to smoking, you might as well be shooting heroin.

Wait. I could be doing heroin instead?!

Another great example of how pussy this country has become. For those that don’t know, that’s the late Justice Scalia DURING his senate confirmation hearings.

Yeah so.

That was what, back in the mid 80's? Attitudes about tobacco have changed and they've changed for the better.

Nowadays society teaches kids that if you smoke cigarettes, you're a worthless piece of scummy white trash and that's pretty close to the truth.

In this day and age two kinds of people smoke cigarettes. Old people who have not yet been killed by them and people who walk into the circle k barefoot.

don’t know why people would start something that they know is both extremely addictive and causes cancer.

Same reason people drink alcohol, eat processed food, carry a cell phone on their pocket, wear an Apple Watch on their wrist.

It is all addicting and it will all kill you.

Having a smoke after a nice, salty steak and tater is one of life's finer pleasure. Also, burning one in the cool morning air of the first cool front in early fall is quite nice.

There wasn't much better than a cigarette break during an all night, addy fueled, cram session.

Also, it's an easy way to split a girl from the pack.

Quit 3 years ago by using a vape. Douchey, but I didn't smell like shite anymore and made weaning off the nicotine easy

It really wasn't that long ago all the stuff about smoking came out.

People in their 30s still had moms smoking when pregnant. Also we had advertisements of hot women smoking, or the cool Joe camel guy.

I remember a shite ton of people smoked in highschool and college. A lot of smokers I knew have since quit or moved to the various vaping products.

That’s exactly how it is for me, but Ive been depressed for over a decade. I have smoked a pack a day off an on over that time period. Have “quit” for 6 months at a time a few times. Quit for a full year before. I actually havent smoked a cig in two days so we’ll see how long that lasts.

And here I am, thinking for some reason society was actually making a push towards being less judgmental. Go frick yourself.

I chew the shite out of some nicotine gum though. I should probably quit that too

Nicotine is addictive but it’s not the harmful part of smoking. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but nicotine addiction is just about the same as caffeine addiction. It’s the other toxins in cigarettes that get you.

In theory you are correct, nicotine isnt that harmful to you. But nicotine is not just somewhat addicting or in the same ballpark of caffeine. It’s one of the most addictive substances on the planet.

It won’t give you cancer but it is ototoxic. It’s also ages your skin.

Your government gleefully harvests tax money from cigarettes and guess what? As smoking decreases it won’t do without that money so all you non-smokers will pay more

Part of me wants to start smoking again just to rebel against all the anti-smoking nanny society preaching.
