I agree with many of your takes, but this one is ludicrous.

A ton of people agree with you. I'm just baffled. It's just so atrocious.

I got married in a t shirt shop for the price of a justice of the peace ceremony, went 45 minutes out of town to a hotel and had a nice dinner, and it was one of the greatest days of my life because I was getting married.

I did similar. Got married by a Justice of the Peace after work on a Friday back when I still worked on Fridays. I was wearing jeans and a polo. We got drunk at a dive bar afterwards. I enjoy the hell out of being married to my wife.

Here's where I stand on this. Florida panhandle beaches - overrated as hell. too crowded and too chubby.

Go down to Tulum, or a caribbean beach full of Europeans? amazing scenery

Panhandle beaches aren't covered in decomposing sargassum, though.

I genuinely believe people actually do like them so I guess it doesn't fit, but I have no idea how anyone enjoys Tool.

Discordant, self-indulgent, ugly music

I'm just baffled. It's just so atrocious.

Self-indulgent? Yeah I guess, but aren't most musicians?
Discordant? Very much intentional. Tool experiments with music like few other bands.
Ugly and atrocious though? We all have our preferences and opinions, but count me as one of many who very much enjoys Tool and doesn't find it ugly at all (except when it's supposed to be).

One of my favorite songs is The Pot. Try to listen all the way through, and try to focus on one instrument at a time.
