Burning more calories seems to work better than eating less

There is some truth to this but most people that are 50+ pounds overweight can't produce a large exercise-induced caloric burn especially if they have to go to work ~40 hours a week.

Yep. Wake up in the morning and go out and jog 5 miles and you'll burn an average of 100 calories per mile if an average size person.

Come back home, cool off and decide to eat 2 plain slices of whole wheat bread and an avocado to make Avocado Toast and you've gained those calories back---------------and that's with nothing to drink to add more calories unless it's plain water.

I’m supposed to take in 2500 calories per day to maintain 194-195 and most days I barely get to 2000.

The old adage is that you can't out run/work a bad diet. The body is an efficient machine. It is easier to estimate how much fuel goes in vs. how much energy is consumed.

Your BMR is 1800-2200 at best. You would not starve.

Even Big Z realized he was fat.

Kind of true. He didn't slim way down until he stopped regularly competing at a top level. At the time he was dominating he had to be that size.

True story: Big Z tore both quads in competition prior to going on his run. He recovered from the injury when some people thought he wouldn't compete again.

24hrs in a day. There is 1-2 hours somewhere to exercise even if it has to revolve around a 40hr work week. It just might not be when you want it to be, but this goes back to the discipline part of the equation.

How about this…you worry about what you eat and I’ll worry about what I eat. If we would all mind our own damn business, this world would be a much better place.

That is true. However too many people say just exercise. Well if your fat arse can barely do anything, then it's best to start a diet and lose some first ALONG with getting more mobile. If you're 5'10 and 240, then tell yourself at 220 you are going to start walking more. The thing is, if you're interested in slimming down, then eventually you WILL have to exercise more and more to get the tougher weight to come off. But for most they just need to remove some weight first so they don't stroke out.

You wouldn't starve as long as you balance your micros and macros. When I am cutting I go from 3800-3900 calories a day to 1,000 and keep up my same exercise induced burn. The only thing I notice on a long cycle like at the beginning of spring is occasionally my body wants fat since my cutting diet is almost all protein and carbs. Even on a 2 week cycle I am able to keep up the same effort even at a huge caloric deficit but I do have to be much more conscious of when I eat to ensure I have proper glycogen levels.

Holy crap. Surely you lose some lean mass doing that.

Last night, while enjoying the cool evening by the fire pit… my wife has been wanting to go on a cruise, and was asking if the drink package was worth it. Would I “really” drink that much if we just paid by drink?

I told her… dear… love of my life… I’ve had 7 beers sitting here listening to Braves game with you. lol. ‘Merica indeed.
