Yeah, there were earthquakes that killed tens of thousands of people.
A large part of that is earthquakes cause landslides

yeah but 5000 years ago your ancestors were telling their kids about how the earth shakes sometimes.

I mean, people knew about eclipses.
People in modern days forget how absolutely obsessed people were with astronomy.

Thinking how dark ancient skies would have been, a close pass of a comet might have been pretty neat.

People in Pompei and Herculaneum got a good show for a few days.

I wonder how many people stared at the eclipse wondering what was happening, and how many of those people experienced eye damage.

Would have to go with an earthquake induced tsunami
One followed by the other... oh boy.
What's caveman for "frick it, I'm out"?

A large sink hole would freak me out. Earth just opens up and takes a 1/4 acre. With no understanding of what we were actually on or how we might have angered a deity.... terrifying.

Didn't Columbus predict an eclipse and tricked some natives into thinking he was a god?

Not really. And you can't stare at it. You can't see shite besides the Sun going out without the glasses. I've seen two totalities and they would not be able to explain it. I don't think they had these:

That being said, a big earthquake would be fricking nuts.

No question, it has to be the GREAT FLOOD. Only 8 human beings and a boatload of animals survived, Imagine 40 days and nights of torrential rain, no place to hide, no mountain high enough to survive and looming death. Nothing can be worse than that.

My dark horse vote goes to large hail (softball size). With no warning or protection, a serious hail storm is confusing and deadly at the same time.

Makes you wonder who was the first person to ever laugh at a fart …
