I was living in Tuscaloosa.

I was partying more than any normal person should. If it could be drank, snorted, or smoked, I was doing it.

I never even considered the future. I was 20 and really didn't think beyond the moment. I wasted a good 3 years living like that, but I had one hell of a time.

Was that Desert Fox? I knew a few older guys that were part of that.

I wasted a lot of years living like that too around the same time. Oh well. Live and learn.

I was 3, living somewhere in Louisiana,
I was either playing with hot-wheels, or in general just running around the house.

My life trajectory was training hard to be a power-ranger.

Had just worked 11 years for a company right out of college. Engineering position that I went to school for.

In 1996, I quit engineering an started fishing for a living so I would say my trajectory was unknown at the time.

Lawdy- it was magic

Sophomore at LSU- had a super good group of friends to run with. Ended up marrying one of the girls in that group.

Not a care in the world- living on mom and dad’s dime. Drinking on my little student job on campus.

Just a random thought the other day, had to been around '96. My dad had a truck that the fuel gauge went out. Never crossed his mind to get it fixed. Just hit the trip odometer every time he got gas. Went to 300 miles and then filled up again. For years.

Had a one year old daughter and wife and I wanted to move back up to Michigan. Wife had never been there. I grew up there until 19 and moved to LA. What a horrible choice that was. I will say this that the Midland Public School system is top notch. But the wife could not take the elements anymore after 3 years. Also the folks in Michigan are basically unfriendly assholes... a very clean and northern Michigan is beautiful., but the people are about as stale as a 10 month old potato chip.

Playing outside 24-7. Going from 5th into 6th grade. Meeting my best friends. Thought the Cowboys would never suck, thought the Spurs were doomed to be good, but never great. Bo social media was great. All of my time and energy went into my small corner of the world. If something outside of that corner happened that was major, I heard it on the news.

Didn’t even care. Just wanted to have fun.

I was in Monroe, LA.... joined the Army and went off to Basic training in May '96 at FT Leonardwood, MO.

At the time I was 19 and wasn't going anywhere really.... the Army helped change that and I got to see parts of the world and the US that I wouldn't have seen otherwise... and I grew up.

90s were a recovery period from the 80s non stop party. Further toward 2000 we got, the shittier things became.

I was 15 living at home with my parents.

Most of my spare time was spent watching porn on AOL, jacking off, and then having to explain why the computer keeps getting viruses.

Most of my money was spent on Playboy and Car Craft magazines and Grizzly dip.

I was eighteen
Didn't have a care
Working for peanuts
Not a dime to spare
But I was lean and
Solid everywhere
Like a rock
My hands were steady
My eyes were clear and bright
My walk had purpose
My steps were quick and light
And I held firmly
To what I felt was right
Like a rock
