I remember some story being told when I was in the ninth grade. The story was about mysterious lights in West Baton Rouge Parish. The lights were said to be in a very dark area where nobody lived. If you saw the lights it was said that the lights were following you when you decided to leave. If a light got very close to you then you would disappear and never be seen ever again. I believed that crap because many said that's what happened to a lady in Port Allen. The lady went to a Time Saver to pick up some items. The store manager had a picture of the lady getting back into her car. She was never seen again and her car was discovered a couple of days later near where those lights were said to appear. Her car did not have any evidence at all. She is still missing but she disappeared when Derrick Todd Lee was still killing women. Old people who live in that area claim that Derrick did not kill her because the remains of his victims were usually left where he killed them. The old people will tell you that the lights got her because she and some of her friends went to see the lights. I heard that fog is responsible for the so called movement of the lights. That woman or her body is still missing today.

Yep

It's amazing how that sh;t gets around to kids who can't drive and there's no Internet. Yet amazingly makes it across the country and every little kid knows it
