In that money management class they should have to do a couple research projects on which major they should choose. They should also create spreadsheets that shows expected rate of return on your college investments.
It's amazing how many stupid kids go to college and invest years of their lives and thousands upon thousands of dollars and then are surprised that the major they chose has a high unemployment rate and barely pays minimum wage.

And more specifically, people should learn how to conduct research and how to evaluate research studies. I could write a research article comparing smokers to non-smokers, and in the smoking group only include the smokers that lived over 80 years and never had cancer, while in the non-smoking group only include people that got some form of cancer and died before age 50, and conclude that smoking makes you live longer. I bet 80% of Americans would believe it.
High school isn't college. A research class would be extracurricular in high school, hell they don't even teach research in college until you are a junior. For high school students independent living is a necessity, research is extra.
ETA: the basics of research was taught at my school but as with any basic course, you get out of it what you put into it

REAL live, actual Civics. Too many dumbasses who don't know simple law, how to find a courthouse, city hall, or know how government works, who is responsible or not, etc.

Basic Auto maintenance (checking and changing fluids, monitoring tire pressure, changing tires, what to do in an accident, jump starting a car, etc).

Teaching motivation is damn near impossible.

Yes. Study philosophy and that would not just provide a reading, writing, and thinking education, but also take them back to why any laws exist to begin with, and what their purpose is, and what factors should be taken into consideration when making a law.

This is my suggestion. Everyone should have to take a 'survey' class that reviews the different career paths of each college major and skilled manual labor careers including reviewing the additional schooling costs for med & law school (or technical college), or additional degrees required to get a reasonable paying job in the soft sciences. Go over expected incomes and career tracks for a wide variety of jobs. The fact that this is never discussed in high school is criminal IMO.

Personal Responsibility.... Kids these days refuse to believe that consequences are the result of THEIR own actions. No one made you do something, YOU did it. And if you did it, YOU have to accept the consequences.
