What services do you leave a tip?

What services do you leave a tip? Do you leave a tip at a coffee shop if you are ordering a regular brewed coffee at a stand up counter? Should you tip a restaurant for a to-go order? Where do you tip or not tip?

Sit down restaurants, food delivery, bars, the barber shop, valet parking, bellman, hotel housekeeper, sometimes tour guides depending on the situation. I’m sure there’s a couple others I’m forgetting. But rarely at coffee shops.

I never understand these posts. If you want to tip, tip. If you don’t, don’t tip. What kind of child needs affirmation from the internet to decide when or when not to tip?

I’m not sure what you mean about areas of your life. I tip all those who serve me regardless the level of service because they are less fortunate than me. The Lord has blessed me.

I was told that if I can’t afford:
a credit card surcharge
an establishment surcharge
plus a wage subsidy for the waitstaff
on top of the margin that already exists in the menu
that I could not afford to eat out. So I don’t.

The usual but I'll drop a gratuity on a lady or gent that just did solid work even if it's not customary.
My wife tipped the food runner at a Whataburger $5 the other day because they were slammed and he was catching all the shite from impatient customers he had to run food out to. She flipt the script and hopefully gave him the umph to finish the shift. That's what I'm talking about.

I don't tip for something I can do myself. I don't tip barbers, bartenders, etc. I can cut hair. I can make drinks.
