What outside temperature makes you consider running water all night?

We will have a light freeze tonight in Baton Rouge so i got curious what your methods are. For me if I see temps in the 20s for more than a few hours I’ll leave my water running.

It doesn’t hurt anything & I’d rather be safe than sorry

Always depend on how exposed the pipes are and how long it’s below freezing.
Light freeze for a couple hours piping inside ur brick no problem.

I’ve got a couple faucets dripping tonight in BR. I do it basically any time it gets below freezing. Can’t hurt.

If it gets to the mid 20s and stays below freezing for 10-12 hours (which means 24+ of freezing temps), I will let the faucets drip at night. It takes a hard freeze over time to cause problems with the plumbing in my house.

When it’s 30 or below I’ll set my dishwasher to run in the middle of the night. Cold enough I’ll drip the faucet too.

Raised house, exposed pipes. More than an hour below freezing expected and I have everything running

When it’s gonna be below 30 for an extended period of time.
Not just dip in the low 30s for 2 hours
