Isnt the original premise of this doll to let your kids know that someone is always watching and they better behave?
Isn't that pretty much the premise of religion? Same idea, same goal. Though religion also arose to explain why we're all here, before science advanced.

The premise of religion is to not go to hell

Absolutely, which is why I dont believe in God. But, that's a tangent point that has no relevance on this subject.

I've got nothing against doing whatever the frick a parent wants to do for their kid for Christmas.
I do give a frick that so many moms think people actually give a flying frick where you placed your stupid fricking elf for said kid EVERY DAY.
Seriously, send a pic to your mom and your Bunko group text. Not social media.

Isn't that kinda the point of social media? To share what's going on in your life.

This is fricking retarded. You know what Santa does generate, though? Creativity, imagination, etc. which are also important life skills.
Santa actually isn't a good example of those. Those skills can as easily come from Star Wars which they would always know is fake.

Posting pics every day of a fricking elf that is entertaining to small children that aren't even on facebook?
No, that's not what social media is for.
Posting that shite is reaching out looking for affirmation that you're special because you're a reproductive mom. congrats.

Gee, you could skip reading what you don't like on social media, same as here. Just skip the things that don't interest you or unfollow the persons you don't care to see. They probably have other parents as friends and enjoy sharing ideas on what to do with the elf. Big deal. Social media is not such that you can make it conform only to your likes. You can get off of it, though.
In today's world, it seems that people look for things to annoy them and complain about. Is it fun to allow something so insignificant to bother you? Talk about overreacting...

perhaps other people find it entertaining?
I'll never understand the people that get upset with what other people post on FB
don't like it...block them or unfriend them
its pretty simple

angry about this. Second, not really. I mean the book that came with it has been in the bed time book rotation a few times so my kid knows the story, but it's more about him trying to find it in the morning and see what it got up to last night. I'm not even sure my four year old buys that it is alive, but he laughs and has fun with it anyway. He even talks to his friends at Pre-K about what their elves did. They laugh about it for a minute and then move on to talking about boogers and going to the playground jungle gym which is really a real castle that is being attacked by dragons. I'm trying to decide when to tell him to cut that shite out because it is a fricking waste of time to pretend and use your imagination and shite like that. I'm thinking about waiting until he turns five though. By the way, when "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" comes on the radio, me and my four year old sometimes sing along. It's basically the same message as the Elf on a Shelf book. I wanted to get your valuable and wise opinion - should I quickly turn the song off since it is "bad parenting" to have your kid possibly hear those evil mind-controlling lyrics?
I am not angry, just having a discussion about this on a message board.
This is a charged discussion because you are questioning parenting techniques and people think you are labeling them a bad parent if you don't agree with their method.
I have said previously, do what you want with your child and I will do the same with mine.

Agreed. I hit the like button on things I like and scroll past the others. The things I like are often pics/stories of family and friends' kids
I think a lot of people's problem is that they're friends on fb with people they don't care about. I only have about a hundred friends because I don't care about the details and goings on of people's lives that I'm not close to

I don't disagree, I love Star Wars.

Lol!!
And I think it's funny he's bitching about what others post on FB, like 10 other people don't complain or want to see what he post.

Same, but I follow a lot of cooking pages, restaurants, chefs' pages, LSU sports pages. I sometimes miss the friend stuff because I'm scrolling to look at my other interests.

I delete requests all the time from people I barely know or I just never answer. There's a long list of requests I have. I rarely add anyone. I'm not sure I've added more than maybe a few people, one of which was my Mom because she couldn't figure it all out at first and the kids wanted her to see their pics so they didn't have to email them separately to her.
I unfollow people who post things I don't care to see. I don't read political or religious or issue based posts. I'm there for recreation. I have a newly turned vegan friend who enjoys posting pictures of slaughtered animals. Love her dearly, but I don't care to see or read those articles, so I unfollowed her. I'm eating my animal/seafood proteins. She should unfollow me so she doesn't see all the food articles I share with my cooking friends.
I don't post a lot of personal info, but I love keeping up with my friends and relatives who live away and seeing their pics.
