I love when people run to the OT to bitch about how little they care about someone's daily activities that are posted to social media without understanding the irony. Do you think the perpetrator gives a shite what you think either?
I share things I do with my kids all of the time because many of our family members and family friends do care, and I appreciate the fact that my family and friends do the same. I don't post things to get any validation - that is ridiculous.

Yep. What is the point of bitching about the way many families use FB when it is well known that FB is full of those kinds of posts?

My favorite is the parents who complain about it like they don't have a choice in the matter.

12 pages fighting about whether or not elf on a shelf is a good thing. And I thought I was just having fun with my son with something that was so innocent. Little did I know. Lol.

You could say the same thing about shooting guns with your kid. Just going to the shooting range and teaching your kid gun safety will bring a whole debate. Pretty much most parenting discussions devolve into arguing about who is a bad parent because they do something, nice try though.

Of course they care, or they wouldn't post it.

m not hating it to be cool. I think the thing is creepy looking. I also am scared of clowns. And hate creepy dolls.
So why should I give into some Christmas gimmick that's only origin is because some author 10 years ago found a way to make money off of parents?
It might be "cute" and its done "for the kids", but like you said, its just another gimmick. I hear parents complain about the stupid elf and having to move it. Plus, I think its creepy as hell to make kids believe an elf is watching over them and moves to a different location every night... Or however its done.
