Worst: I applied for a job at Wal Mart before I knew about "behavioral" interview questions. Also, I did a practice interview for senior seminar class in college and they asked me things like "where do you go to church" and gave me poor marks when I didn't answer the proper way.
Best: The job I'm at now didn't ask me any behavioral questions even though by that point, I had studied hundreds of them. It was a two way tell me about yourself and we'll tell you about our company sort of deal that I appreciated.

Brother in law got me a interview with a smaller oilfield company he worked for. He's pretty high up there so I thought it was just a formality to meet some of the employees and the owner. All the employees seemed nice and everything is going fine until I meet the owner. Guy comes off very abrasive and starts questioning my toughness because I was never in the Army and tells me that there's no point in me working there because I had a college degree and I would just quit as soon as I found something better. Very odd and embarrassing. If my brother in law didn't work there I would have had this baw meet me at Sonic.

No, it was random topics
I think the topic I chose was something like "when man discovered fire" or something like that.

Hyped up on steroids for an asthma condition, I absent-mindedly referred to a former executive-level manager as a "dickhead." I watched as the two females interviewing me visibly flinched. I profusely apologized, blamed my slip of the tongue on lack of sleep, then followed up with an email to one of them reproducing my steroid prescription and medical diagnosis, but there was no way in hell this white male was going to be forgiven in this political climate -- for a job at Tulane University. Ah, well -- will have to find another job paying me their proffered $28K a year.

Only had 1 interview and was told I would be hired and to just wait for the official letter offer in the mail. Yes mail. It was 1973!

fricked up and drank coffee on my way to it. Chewed some gum to get rid of the stank breath. Spent 45 minutes uncomfortably holding in bubble guts in front of the business owner and superintendent. Couldn't focus and gave short answers because I wasn't about to ripsnort in front of them.

The interview was for a tech project, so I rolled the invention of fire to basically the start of technology or something. It was total bullshite

That's when you just let out the most aggressive fart that you can muster. Exert your dominance and confidence early. This would have made you a lock for the position.

I applied for a bartending job in S'port when I was in college. During the interview the guy kept telling creepy stories and 1 involved him getting a bj in New Orleans while he was drunk and later found out the she was a he. He asked me if that would bother me. I told him hell yeah it would.
He then starts asking if I wanted to be a male escort and it sounded good to me. So he proceeds to pull out a ruler and said he needed to measure my pecker. The odd thing was, the ruler had marks on it with other guy's names. By this time, my dick was all shriveled up from being so nervous I got the hell out of there!
I wound up getting a job delivering pizza instead.

Worst was a high school called me on a Friday night at 10pm to schedule an interview for Monday morning at 10am. Being 23, I didn’t know any better and thought they were desperate to find someone.
Took a full day off work - unpaid with that job - and prepped all weekend for the interview.
I got there at 930am and waited until noon. They called me back, asked me three very generic questions and didn’t respond to any of my answers.
Found out later from a friend who worked there that the position was filled by an offensive coordinator hired in from out of state. The interview was just satisfying the state requirements for teacher openings.

Some advice for the soon to be recent college grads looking for a job: if the job posting says no experience required and the interview feels like they're selling the company to you instead of the other way around, it's probably a shitty place to work.
Couldn't agree more while I was about a two years out from graduating I applied for an internship in my field, and was fortunate to get an interview. They didn't ask a single question about me and immediately starting selling the place on how great it was and how if I got the job it would be the last job I would need. They did not answer any of the questions I had about whether or not my previous field experience meant anything (had previously worked on my tools in refineries for a couple years), or questions about schedule flexibility. Had some awesome co-workers, but turns out it was not the best place to work. Fortunately I was able to get some great experience from it that helped me find a way better job at a great company.

I showed up for an interview in Texas. A placard in the lobby listed all employees and their phone extensions. All surnames appeared Hispanic. The Dept Head was also Hispanic. I obviously suspected I might not meet one of their critical requirements.
The first round interview was a disaster. Every office door with an employee name beside it was closed, which I took as a sign there was not much collaboration or interaction among employees. Both managers seemed to not respect each other and seemed very new to the process. I felt like they were overlooking several important questions they should ask me, so I addressed those in my closing remarks.
I was disappointed when I was called back fo a 2nd interview with the Dept head. He talked about himself and his son the whole time, but took a moment for a personal phone call with a friend. At no point did he ask me anything about me. I figured it was a courtesy interview and that they had someone else in mind.
They ended up hiring me and I realized I was the only white male employee in an office of 75 people. Later, a coworker told me I was hired for that reason, because I replaced another white male that left, who also replaced another white male.
Surprisingly, I was promoted every time I applied, despite thinking I bombed every interview.

Worst interview was my first interview after the Navy.
I got the interview through a family connection, walked in and acted like I had the job in the bag. I was woefully unprepared and the interview lasted all of 10 minutes.
As a guy who has helped hire a number of employees I have seen my fair share of terrible interviewees.
The ones that stand out:
Lady from NYC asked to provide brief introduction and winds up talking for 9 continuous minutes about kids in NYC having to take a 90 minute subway ride to soccer practice. the job had not a damn thing to do with soccer or subways
A chick who fidgetted like a coked out methhead, taking her glasses off, cleaning them, and putting them back on 15 times in 5 minutes (I counted)
One word responses and awkward stares back at you are always fun
One guy brought I shite you not a notebook the size of an unabridged dictionary. After every question asked, he would flip to a certain page, silently read his talking points for 10-15 seconds, and then finally respond to us

Interviewed once in New Orleans. The head boss asked me who I supported in an upcoming election. The #2 guy interrupted and suggested this might not be an appropriate question. I answered it anyway. Didn’t get hired.
In my most recent interview, the #1 question asked was “How old are you?” Among the 15 or so other participants on this panel interview (most of whom were in their 60s or older), not one attempted to interfere with that question or my answer. I answered the question. Did not get the job.
