Knew a guy that took a couple of pills then swigged down an entire 5th of whiskey. He was later found dead on the couch.

Real answer: a great aunt hung herself in the attic of our plantation home. We were doing some renovations this past year and while moving shite around found a note she left scratched into the wall saying sorry and to forget about her.

This comes up time to time but I still don't find one that comes close to what happened to a good friend of mine: Only 23, newly married, first child on the way, he was playing golf with 3 of us. None of us any good, just enjoying the sun & lots of beer. He blew a chip shot, swung his club against the side of the cart, it broke in half & one part flew into his throat & he subsequently bled to death. Just a big happy go lucky Italian who was not angry, just goofing off. My oldest son was born the day of his wake, 34 years ago next Monday.

Did this happen in CA?

Heard this story years ago from a friend of friend.

Co-workers brother had live-in girl friend. GFs daughter came back from California with drug head guy. GF went to rehab. The guy was murdered by the California kids with a decorative Samara sword and thrown in a dumpster. GF gets out of rehad and wonders what happened to the guy.

A guy who was working on a Diesel engine in an underground mine got shot in the eye with a stream of diesel fuel under a few thousand PSI. From what I heard he was dead by the time he hit the ground.

I didn't know this guy personally, but when I was about 8 on New Year's Eve my friend and I found a guy behind our neighborhood who hanged himself with barbed wire. This was fairly traumatic for an 8 year old and led to several nightmares over the following months

A friend of mine's son died playing, "The choking game". He tied a belt around his neck and hooked the other end to a hook and then sat down. He waited too long before standing up and lost consciousness. My friend found him in the morning. At first, he thought it was a suicide, because he had never heard of the choking game, but his daughter told him that she knew that he had been doing this.

Bizarre.

My great great aunt said for years that Ervin, her late husband, would talk to her at night. Everyone brushed it as you do with the ramblings of an old lady. Then one day she came around to each house and said that she was saying goodbye because Ervin said he was coming to get her tonight.

Well, she died in her sleep that night.

Guy I grew up with was apparently living a closeted gay lifestyle with a married man who was also keeping it on the DL. Police think some sort of drama went down about remaining closeted and the guy I grew up with went to the married guy's house and dismembered him with a machete.

I knew a healthy 20 year old man who was in his dorm room. He choked on a sunflower seed.

Not the shell the seed itself. The seed got lodged in his trachea and caused it to swell.

He ran into the hall where a few people tried to perform the Heimlich on him.

It did not work and he died in the hall. This was in 1992. And not at Auburn.

Two I know of happened on the fly or near it in NOLA. One guy I knew was doing donuts and ran over two people fooling around on the grass. At least one died. Manslaughter. Another teen I knew was running from the cops on a motorcycle at night in the back of Audubon Park or somewhere very close. Ran into some kind of fence of wire and decapitated himself.

The family two streets over had a crazy murder story. They owned the local ski shop in town and apparently the father was a total a-hole. He was abusive and routinely beat his wife and kids. The wife got sick of it and gave her deadbeat son several thousand dollars to get a hit man. The deadbeat son instead used that money to start his heroin drug dealing business. A few weeks go by and the wife decides to just kill the husband herself. She has her son mow the lawn and shoots him in the back of the head while he is napping. She sets the whole crime scene to look like a mafia hit. Several months pass and her son gets arrested with a large amount of heroin. They start pressing on the son about where he got the money etc. etc. and he caves and tells the whole story. The woman gets arrested and kills herself while in jail.

While the story in itself was crazy, the lady went about her normal business. My mom played tennis several times with her, she came to the video store I worked at and rented several movies. It was a small town so everyone knew her and was shocked when all the details came out.

I can't really think of anyone I knew personally who died in a weird way. Tragic ways, yes, but not unsual.

I remember my grandfather telling me about a buddy of his during World War II who snapped one day and committed suicide by calmly walking into the whirling prop of a B-17 while it was waiting to taxi onto the runway. He and about six other guys were in a group talking and watching the bombers take off. He said the guy just calmly walked across the field straight into it.

I know two different people who were the focus of two separate murder mystery episodes

The murderer was my manager before he moved out to Colorado from SC

This guy was a HS friend I had played football with and was the victim in this episode of "On the case with Paula Zahn"
