In 1984, a Sigma Chi, a kid I knew in HS, was copping wood when a sliver flew up and into his heart. Very sad.

Some family friends had a sick daughter that passed away. Their son, who had been in good health, died 2 days later of an unrelated cause.

A guy here in SC, who worked at a large nuke facility, cut work and went deer hunting on the company property.
Employees had the option to hunt the property, but they had to sign in, and more importantly, be Off work.
This guy decided to lay out and go without a soul knowing.
36 hours later he was found at the base of a tree. Fully paralyzed, and (this part really sucks) he was blind.
Blind? Yes. Why? South Carolina was in a drought period. As he lay there paralyzed all those hours, fireants were drawn to the moisture in his eyes. As he blinked to get them out, they stung and blinded him.
As far as I know, he is still alive in a nursing home. Death? shite, if my friends didn't take me out after such an event, I would blink me up a hitman to kill them all and then me.

Was his name Rob? I worked with a guy that something like this happened to.

Damn, after thinking about it, I've actually got several examples.
-- In the 6th grade, a friend of mine who lived in 'the country' & rode the school bus was sitting on the trunk of a car of one of the moms who'd gone to the bus stop to pick up the kids who lived on that particular road, & she fell off & died when she landed wrong & broke her neck. The car was only going app. 10-15 mph. Tragic.
-- The same year, another friend of mine was shot & killed when his buddy was looking at (playing with) my friend's new shotgun. He accidentally shot my friend in the head. Hate to call that an accident. I'll just say it wasn't intentional. He was definitely not using proper firearm safety & procedure, and he knew better. ... We had a horrible 6th grade year.
-- A friend who I worked with in BR moved to San Diego & drowned in a sinkhole on the beach one night. Bizarre.
-- Friend I graduated with became a raging alcoholic after college. She never could/would stop drinking, and when she was 40, obviously way past the point to be partying with kids on spring break, she went to Panama City & died while partying with people she didn't know when her liver actually exploded.
-- 2 friends of mine have committed suicide, which I consider to be 'weird,' or at least out of the norm.
-- When I was very young, the woman who lived across the street from us was murdered by her 'estranged' husband one afternoon when he shot her through the storm door when she went to answer it. He then went behind the house & shot & killed himself. I remember us staying with my grandparents for a few days until cops finished their investigation. My parents didn't want us subjected to it while all of that was going on, I guess, but the most bizarre thing is that when my brother & I returned home after a couple of days, I was outside playing with my friend from next door, & her dog came running up to us with something in its mouth - turned out to be the tongue of the pos who murdered his wife then killed himself. I really only remember my friend screaming & crying uncontrollably, then our dads running outside & scooping us up to take us inside. Then the cops came back again to retrieve the bit of 'evidence' the dog drug up.

A guy a knew from drinking with at a local bar was working in a salt mine. He was driving in the mine, couldn't see through his windshield so stuck his head out to see. Decapitated himself when it got narrow pinning his head between a wall and the truck.

When I was a sophomore in high school a kid a couple grades below me accidentally got kneed in the temple while playing a baseball game. He was covering 2nd base when the kid on first tried to steal 2nd. The throw was low so the kid went to hurdle him and his knee caught the kid in the side of the head. He was airlifted but passed away later that day. The baseball field is named after the kid who lost his life.

Growing up there was a kid in my neighborhood with some kind of milk allergy. He grabbed the wrong jug (he had what I'm assuming was some almond milk or something) from the fridge and put it on his cereal. He was dead when everyone else woke up.

When I was in the sixth grade one of my best friends grandmother died. My friends dad swore she couldn't stop hiccuping. She had a 57 Ford like this one.
This was in 1971 but it looked brand new.

The only thing I got is someone I knew who got shot while hunting. I don't know the exact details, but the person who shot him thought he was a deer.. apparently, but the guy had hunters orange on..

Older neighbor was mowing his field with a large pull behind bush hog, got it stuck, and got off to try to free it up....it ended up rolling backwards over him....his wife watched it happen from the house.

An old Italian boy who owed mega property did all his own work. Fixing his elevator which ended up pinning him and killing him at one of his properties. Only other one would be a father and son getting hit by a train in a car, not weird, but, well you know.

Daughter of a friend died during a motorcycle race practice. No one was supposed to be on the track, but a marshal saw some debris and went out to clean it off. Motorcycle hit and killed the marshal as well as the daughter of our friend.

I'm going to say I know this dude personally (even though I don't really) because he was the first person to hold me. The doctor who delivered me was cleaning his pool one day, slipped, cracked his head, fell in the pool and drowned.
Also, an acquantaince passed away after slipping on the deck of their houseboat. Fell in the water and that was it.
A couple of coworkers (different companies) spouses committed suicide. That suicide thing is more common than you think.
