I wouldn't be able to handle her speaking for an hour. The bad voice in the back of my head would just be screaming, "SPEAK LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN, FREAKSHOW" and completely miss the knowledge being dropped on me.

Absolutely!

I think I'd rather read about what she has to say, and not hear it.

I’d still read it in that voice though.

And possibly miss meeting and talking Science and Ancient Militarily Strategy with your dream girl?

This is funny because it is currently the theory that makes the most sense.

I would be too mesmerized by her beauty and elegance to hear anything she had to say.

Ok then where did all the matter come from in the first place, why did it all start off in one huge mass, why did it explode, and what is it exploding into?
All valid questions, and all are being researched, but none of them need to be answered in order for the big bang theory to be accurate or logical.

Every single measurement that we take says the same thing -- galaxies are moving away from each other, and the further apart they are the faster they are moving away. This has the effect that no matter where you are in the universe, it would appear that you are at the very center of the "explosion". The only way that this makes sense is that the universe itself is expanding. The big bang is not an explosion in space, it is an explosion of space.

So, unless every single instrument that we've built is flawed, and every single measurement that we've taken is wrong, and every single scientist designing the instruments and taking the measurements is a dumbass, then we have to accept that the universe truly is expanding. Which means that, logically, if you reverse time, it would contract into itself to the point of singularity.

This is your problem word, that begets the question.

The Universe/Reality Expands.

There is no "into."

It was either that or the black scientist with a weird last name. I don't remember.

No, no, no. The universe is on the turtle's back.

But in what did that point exist and how did it get there?

It existed in nothing. The idea of nothingness is difficult to grasp. I'm not sure we are capable of truly comprehending the difference between empty space and nothing at all. It's hard to imagine anything other than the 3 spatial dimensions that we know. After the 4th dimension of time, what would a 5th dimension be like? Or what if we dropped a dimension... what would a 2D existence be like? Now try to imagine zero dimensions. Our brains can't really make sense of it, because anything you imagine is still something rather than nothing. Even empty space is something.. it's space! You can look into it, point to it, put something there, etc. But with zero dimensions, absolute nothingness... not only is nothing there, nothing can possibly be there because there is no space in which to exist. Even time does not exist. Crazy.

How it got there might always be a question. Is it possible to know what happened, if anything, before our current concept of time even began? "Before" doesn't even mean anything when time doesn't exist.

No one knows. The great thing about science is that you go with the best answer at the time, and look to always improve on that stance if possible. The big bang is the best (most mainstream) theory we have but science is always open to new ideas.

But about what happened before the big bang, I don't think science has too many answers for that or any as to why it 'banged'. Like some has suggested already, the universe is ever expanding and has always been since the big bang. If you can imagine a rubber band expanding until a certain point and then it retracts back to the source. Maybe this is something how our universe works. It keeps expanding until a certain point and then retracts back into an implosion (which can be viewed as how the universe was before the big bang) and then expands (big bangs) back out. This could repeat for infinity.

This video is pretty cool to watch and kinda how I feel about things.

THE BIG LEZ SHOW
