Mine charges $5 for people to park on its property for the local antique yard sale.

Yeah real sketchy.

This is sarcasm in case you can’t tell.

As they should. Salvation is for sinners, the church has a responsibility to help shepherd them away from sin and into God’s will. There are many people that are legitimately blind to their sins.

My parents live in a small but really nice neighborhood. Average house would sell for $1m or more. Their next door neighbor is a Baptist preacher who gets his congregation to do the yard work.

But is he actually a Baptist or just one of those prosperity gospel grifters?

My Catholic Church recently got a new father who’s first sermon was a rant about how abortions are sacrifices to Moloch. I like this new guy

If I was Catholic, I'd say molesting children.

Churches like this would have strung up Jesus on the cross for telling them to love their enemy and turn their cheek.

Our church auction has some things that go for 20 grand plus. Lots of money being thrown around.

A condo for the preacher and his wife in Miami, you know, for outreach and so they can start a new ministry with a coffee shop and a bookstore, filled with books, tapes, CDs and DVDs of the pastor's musings.

first of all if someone is unable to profess belief in the tenets of the sect no church is letting them be a member. thats normal. letting reprobates hear the gospel also seems normal.

Anybody can walk in our doors on a Sunday morning but small group attendance, deaconship, volunteering in any role, etc. requires repentance of sin if brought to light.

I was a deacon in charge of communion for 6 years and a couple of times apparently somebody that I grabbed to help communion was having an affair and I got an earful from the pastor who got an earful from the jaded wife.

I don’t disagree with getting my arse chewed over it, but it would be awesome if I didn’t have to beg people to help serve communion and get turned down by over half so that I’m grabbing second hand Randos.

How about church visitor cards? We’re brought up to not give out sensitive information online or to strangers, but the church wants to know your name, address, phone number, kids names and ages, occupation, etc… on your first visit.
You might as well write in your social, bank routing and PIN number too.
LOL! Fill one of those accurately and expect a knock on the door very soon!

Killing people in the name of God - this is a universal comment of all churches (organized religions). I myself am an agnostic.

Look down their noses and pre judge people due to family, social, whatever stature in the community.

If you are rich you are better than poor people in the church's eyes.

Two of the things the bible is against.

Not my church but a shady story.

A buddy of mine is one of those private client bankers. He’s got this mega-church preachers as a client. The preacher buys 300 acres in Mississippi, waits 6 months, then the church buys the land from him for 10x what he paid to build a church retreat facility.
