What is the real reason most companies wont come to Louisiana

We all make jokes about LA having too many schools. But yet we dont have a workforce that makes us viable. That just doesn't sit well with me.
Is there another reason LA has so few companies. And if we only have scarce job opportunities, then isn't that more a reflection of the governance and general state population?
If there are only a few professions needed, why arent our schools geared toward that.
EDIT: Bobby Jindal is at fault for some of these problems. He tried to bring in companies and reform taxation. However he did not balance the loss of revenue with a better budget.

I imagine every kind of agency in the state trying to shake them down in some way would be one.

Mostly because:
1)The govt is constantly broke
2)No one seems to believe in investing in infrastructure or better quality of life.
Mitch Landrieu is a great example of what went wrong.

Ranked as number 2 behind Rhode Island as the worst state to form an LLC of Corporation in
quote:
Unemployment: 4.5% (33rd - tied with Georgia, Ohio, Mississippi, North Carolina and Rhode Island)
Corporate tax rate: 8%
Sales tax rate: 5.00%
Individual income tax rate: 6%
The Pelican State has the highest combined average state and local sales tax rate in the country, coming it at 50th place and dropping it into the bottom ten overall. This high sales tax rate is due to a decrease in revenue and structural shortfalls. The combined state and local sales tax rate is now approaching 10 percent. Louisiana has fallen consistently in the rankings year after year, from 34 in 2015 to 42 in 2018.

Lack of long-term tax benefits and incentives

This has been discussed ad nauseum, and there isn't one answer. A couple are high taxes, incompetent government, uneducated workforce, etc, etc

Contractions. We need proper contractions.

Pathetic infrastructure, lack of qualified workers, and no hope of either of those changing in the future.

Workforce unskilled and uneducated.

The schools are absent minded of the job market. The state government encourages the wrong type of industries (movie industry vs manufacturing, etc). The general population is lazy, as we have a high number of people who are unable to work or unwilling to work. In reality we have a low number of quality workers. Taxes are too high. No great schools to excite major companies for hiring. Too much violence and drugs. Undesirable location. List goes on and on

There are probably quite a few reasons and it differs from company to company, but as a general reason, I am sure our politics has something to do with it.
If someone at the top isn't going to gain from it, then it's not as likely to happen and when I say gain, that doesn't always mean paying off someone. It could mean giving someone a little more say so in how things will work, etc.
That and there is the lack of work force. Then there is also the availability of better options in other states.

Governmental corruption
A low-rated judiciary
Perceived different legal system
Relatively low level of highly educated and skilled workers
No close travel hub with upper echelon access
Broken school system
Natural disaster threat
Just to name a few.

The fellow we bought our house in the French Quarter chose not to retire to New Orleans but to Florida.
He stayed often at his place in NOLA and he told us," Anyone who doesn't have their act together or who is prone to even minor misbehaviour will find their life goes to shite when they live in New Orleans. Their lives won't get better, ever, their lives will only get worse."
This from a man who lived in NYC, who was from Oklahoma but was mostly disinherited by his very rich parents because he was gay.
