What is the purpose of pronouns in work email signatures?

Honest question. I WFH for a small company, began Jan 2020, prior to that always for big companies in the office. I frequently interact with coworkers but oddly it’s only about work, so have no office banter or bureaucratic BS.
I assume the purpose is ultimately virtue signaling, by either individual or org. but it’s clearly becoming mandated in certain companies and local govs we work with. Yesterday a good old boy in his 50s/60s who I’ve spoken with several times named Mike in Odessa, TX had he/him. If there was confusion about this guys gender, I should just quit modern life.
What is the explanation for this? My guesses are:
1. To avoid genuine confusion? I guess it somewhat makes sense with a Kelley or Blake, I’ve assumed wrong with both of them. But that’s likely not the intent.
2. Self-promoted wokeness by the org? Look at us!
3. CYA HR move to build in policies in case of lawsuit?
Thanks for your consideration

What does that mean? Been brought up before? I’m an idiot? Both? Fine but what’s the answer?

To ensure you reference a tranny with the proper form.

Virtue signal points
It’s all so dumb and unnecessary

I usually don't do the grammar police thing, because I sure as hell make my share of mistakes. But for some reason when I see them in the subject title, it bugs the hell out of me.
As for your question, I think it's just a "look at us, we're woke" thing.

The idea is, and I am not saying I agree, to help transgender people feel more comfortable about identifying their pronouns. If everyone is identifying their pronouns, it doesn't stand out when someone who is transgender does it. So if Kaitlyn continues to be confused or mistaken as a man, though she prefers to be identified as a female, she will need to put "she/her/her's" in her email signature. That would be odd if only transgender people did that and bring unwanted attention to themselves. So the idea is if everyone does it, no one notices Kaitlyn's email signature and Kaitlyn gets called her preferred pronouns.

It has been explained to me that the pronoun bullshite is used to signify that the person using the pronouns is a supporter of all of the LGBTQAIVEPID nonsense and that other alphabet soup supporters can feel "safe" when conversing with said person using pronouns.
And I'm not making this shite up sadly. A real live she/her explained it to me

That's the only reasonable option, especially with the surge of WFH where you are only seeing text and not hearing a voice. But my guess is that it isn't because of reason.
I have a feminine name, but have been addressed as a Mr. or sir from time to time when all communication is by email. More so when dealing with international communications where the person may not be familiar enough with English names. Could your good old boy Mike's company have international customers? Perhaps The confusion angle could apply? Coupled with CYA and wokeness of not wanting someone offended because they were addressed incorrectly? It's never bothered me, but some folks are pretty thin skinned.
At the same time, I've likewise had to guess (meaning, I worded things carefully to cover both bases) in early emails with new vendors/customers. In addition to nonspecific Taylor type names, I've known a female Michael and a male Tracy. Unless I know for sure, I just avoid sentence structures that need a pronoun.

Love when it’s someone named Steve and is clearly a dude but they still put he/him. Like no shite asshead you don’t even look like a tranny.

My company makes us include our preferred pronouns in our email signature. I haven’t done it yet but if they call me out on it, I will happily do it because they pay me wayyyyy more than I’m worth so if it keeps them happy, so what.

I’d sooner quit that job than partake in that waste of time nonsense.

Pretty much marking themselves as Death Eaters who will ruin your life if you remotely step out of line.

Virtue signaling.
Don’t give in, not even once. They are stupid and deserve to be called out as stupid.

For frick sake, I’ve never seen so many adults act so childish about things that absolutely have no impact on their lives.
Whining about what someone else does in their fricking email signature? Jesus

OK, where are we now due to caving to lunatics? It’s just this that’s all we ask. No it’s not just that. Read “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” sometime. We’re well past the mouse wanting to have his drawing hung on the refrigerator. We’re at the point where the mouse is hosting a rager with 10,000 of his best friends and is about to burn the fricking house down. I’m done putting up with this mouse.
