And i always offer my hand as i'm introduced in business settings. I have never heard of that gentleman's rule on not offering unless she offers her hand first, so i'm definitely going to continue to offer first. I've just always personally thought it's rude not to offer my hand.

Put your hand out first, palm very subtly raised up, and let her grab it how she wants. Reciprocate in a like manner. It's easy because very few women will jump the gun on handshakes.
If the woman does get her hand out first, grip normally and shake. If it's too hard, that's her problem.

When I shake a man's hand, I give a tighter grip, when I shake a woman's hand, I do the same without giving a tighter grip.

The worst is when you offer a handshake to a woman and it catches her off guard.
The second worst is these jack arse guys that like to put 100psi of force with a handshake. Firm is proper, not as hard as you can jackass.
I agree it's routinely very awkward, upper level female professionals and execs are often experienced. But young execs and professional women are routinely poor at this imo. Very very weak, none, or limp wristed.

First allow the woman to extend her hand first and shake it just firmly enough to show her that you are not a squish.
