For a new vehicle $40K is about my limit

This statement was necessary because?

Hard to say because there are many jobs out there that will pay a car note for you. Buddy of mine gets 800 a month from his job. Pretty much covers an entire note for his brand new sierra all terrain.

I'm 26 and make about 100k a year if you include value of benefits (free housing, utilities, health insurance, retirement, yearly bonus plus 65k salary and I make approx 12k a year in capital gains from part ownership in a couple small businesses I helped friends get started.
I paid 40k for my truck and won't really go over that, I usually buy a fully loaded version with about 20k miles on it. But I also just paid 65k on a new ski boat custom ordered from the factory

I will pay the least amount of money possible for the vehicle I want.

Depends on the vehicle.
Truck = $25k
DD car = $150k
Specialty car = whatever it costs

I'm really into cars, so I can see myself spending like $100k on a vehicle if I could afford it.
Realistically though, the most I can ever see myself spending on a vehicle is like $60k.

Do you have any more financial details you can provide us? How much do you bank on goodwill donations? Find a lot of change on the streets? Any prostitution income?

I will never finance more than 20k when purchasing a vehicle.

Whatever I have to pay for a new or slightly used suburban. $50k?
About to have kid #3 and we don't want a van.

I recently bought a $75,000 new truck. Before you judge, let me share my reasons why.
1.) I wanted it.

When you say no van, do you only mean minivans?
I'd consider the Nissan NV for a big people mover. Not very fuel efficient, but the price is right (around $40k new with leather, heated seats, nav). And the utility factor is through the roof. My wife hates them, but I'd really like one when we have more than one kid.

Normally keep the wife in something nice, usually around 3035 grand.
For myself, less than 20 on a truck, out of pocket 10-12, I like to use a truck for what it was intended and frankly don't have use for a parking lot beauty.
Folks buying 60,000 dollar 3/4 ton diesels and worrying about scratches or dirt inside amuse me somewhat.

1. Your wife is an architect in Alabama?
2. Is pretty good money in terms of Alabama pretty good?
3. Is it safe to assume you make $80K
Based off this I take it yall at around $120k - $140K
I wanted to be an architect at one point during my childhood, but when I was told how little they make and how competitive the field was I never seriously pursued it.

Do you need to tow or do you just have that many large items to carry around? I get it with 3 kids. We had a Tahoe and could fill it up with 1 kid and a dog come the holidays (live out of state). But we just downsized from a Tahoe to a 3 row crossover SUV and the seating room is actually better (legroom wise at least, maybe alsacrificing a little width). Fuel mileage is up and it's luxury name brand, so more bells and whistles and a better/longer warranty. All for significantly less than what Chevy is asking for a similarly equipped Tahoe/Suburban. Just got a infiniti qx60 and paid right at 40k after haggling.

Yup. My truck was pricey but I've gotten every penny worth out of it. Poor thing
