15k

Until I am at the point where I literally don't have to work a day in my life that I don't want to, I won't spend any significant amount of money on a liability.

Is this an OT troll? You can't get many nice vehicles for that price. You can get a decent used one probably, but hope you don't have high hopes for it.

Plus, this is the OT, anything less that $100k is trashy.

It annoys me to spend a lot on cars. They're just not my thing, so I'm fine with basic function. $22k is the highest I've gone. I find plenty of frivolous ways to spend money, but I can't bring myself to spend it on something I'm not into.

Just seems like a terrible investment to spend money on something that depreciates so quickly.

Cars aren't investments.

In all honesty, it would depend on the type of vehicle. I would spend more on a pick-up that will last more than a decade.

For instance, I now have an 2010 F-150 4x4 that I got with 90K miles for $14K and my work car is a 2011 Subaru Outback that I got with 80K miles for $9800 (after the F-150 was paid for).

So you have actually spent $24K on personal vehicles for yourself.

I really don't care what you drive or want to spend. I don't care that your wife only makes 24K a year as an Architect.

I have a 100 mile round trip work commute. The Ford is too hard on gas.

You're either buying salvaged vehicles or getting vehicles at WELL below market value. That 2010 F150 4x4 w/ 90k would sell for $16-18k today in all likelihood. If I were getting those kind of deals, then I wouldn't spend much on a vehicle either.

How much gas could you buy with the extra payment, as well as insurance and maintenance money for the other vehicle?

It's maddening to me.

Another thing that's nuts is how much these guys who are nearly broke will spend on their bass boats.

20k. No way in hell will I pay more. It's metal, plastic and in some cases cheap leather. There's not an additional 10k in value for me

I guess it's about that time for the bi-weekly "I make a lot of money and only buy cheap used cars" thread.

You people are like crossfitters. Not a car thread goes by without a few of them bragging about making bank while driving a 10 year old econobox like it's some kind of achievement to not drive a nicer vehicle.

Dude, you don't have to pay it all at once. They can set it up where you only pay a little bit every month and it's like getting a car for next to nothing!! It's pretty sweet.
