I make right around 50 and I financed around 22k with a 4k down payment. My interest rate is below 1% so I am fine with it.

This is my line of thinking. I love cars. I don't have too many hobbies yet though I'm still young (24 graduating next month). Going to get the best car my company car allowance will allow.

I set my limit at 35k for the wife back in 2007 and had to move that limit to 50k in 2014
Most expensive truck I have ever bought myself was about 30k until this year when I bought myself a 2017 F-250. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever see myself spending over 70K for a pickup truck. I will not finance anything over 35k so if I don't have the rest in trade or expendiable cash I will lower my budget on the car purchase.

I will always use this rule of thumb: the sum value of all my vehicles (including boats/toys/anything you would insure) will not be more than 50% of my annual income.
