112 on a two lane road between Plaqueman and Bayou Sorrel. Probably not a big deal, but I was only 16 and it was at night. If I would had a blow out or a deer had jumped out onto the road, it could have ended badly.

145 on HWY99 south of Bakersfield, CA. This chick (you don't want pics) let me drive her brand new Camaro SS. Dumbass girls.

Our fellow poster, justausedcarguy, is a former ARCA/NASCAR driver, so he'd probably win this thread. Even if he didn't drive the fastest speed in this thread, he raced at Daytona and Talladega, which probably trump any where any of us have driven.

140 in a Trans Am on I10 between Siegen and the 10/12 split. Ended up shearing the speedometer cable off.

i gave a ride back from l.c. to la tech to a fellow student. I was late to pick him up because i was making out with gf by prien lake and lost track of time.
He's bent out of shape, some appointment he hadnt told me, hes on basketball team which i knew.
So i pretty much floored it as circumstances permitted.
Im laughing now as typing.
I drifted just a hair and an oncoming car's door handle just nipped my door handle. No damage.
Tensed me up a bit. Him a lot.
He never asked ride again.

Did 155 on two separate occasions when I had my 2010 Transformers Edition Camaro SS. There was a limiter on it (because the tires it came with weren’t rated for any higher), but it would still be pulling good up until it shut you down at 155 - it got there easily. Used to open it up on old Hwy. 90 between N.O. East and Slidell. Bumpy as frick though - couldn’t get near that speed in my 911 or my first Vette on that road because my head would start smacking the roof.
In my current ‘19 Grand Sport, I hit 145 on the straight at NOLA last track day. I’ve only done one unrestricted track day in it so far. Can probably squeeze a few more mph out of it at that track, but I don’t open it up on the street any more.

About 130 mph in a Porsche Cayman on I-85. I had a tennis match an hour south of downtown ATL. There was a GT football game at noon and I finished around 11:30. I made it back to campus, parked and in my seat with most of the 1st quarter left. Still amazed that I didn't get pulled over.

Yep. It topped out at 150. Was a fun little car to have.

Had one. Really liked driving it despite it lacking a little on power. They were speed limited at 155, but it always felt really squirrely above 130.

In my younger days about 110-120 MPH in a 1996 Honda Accord.
Recently I drove faster than I have since my early twenties. I drove north from Las Vegas to meet Hwy. 50 that cuts across central Nevada. For miles there is nothing but flat, straight roads surrounded by plains with mountains in the distance. No curves, no cops, no deer that might run out in front of you, and rarely another car. You can drive as fast as you want to out there.
If you ever want to get out alone and just drive and listen to music and enjoy beautiful scenery, the isolated roads of Nevada is a good place for it.

120 in a 1984 Honda Prelude on 75 south between Chattanooga and Atlanta. If you redline it in 4th and pop it into 5th on a downhill you can get there.
I was 17 and an idiot. Front end was shaking so bad I felt like it was a shuttle launch.

100 mph, trying to get to my wife when she was in a wreck. I was on Indian nation turnpike in OK headed to Marshall Tx. At 100 my truck electronics would shut off. Freaked me out when it just would shut down at that speed...2007 Chevy z71...

About 98 in a 2001 4runner on the Cross Lake bridge in Shreveport. I was 16 or 17 at the time, I imagine I never would have driven that truck again had I gotten popped at that speed.

I had a 74 SWB Ford pickup in my youth. It had a fairly tired 400 that I pulled, and rebuilt with some pretty good pieces. The speedo only went to 120, and I was somewhere well beyond that on a two lane road not far from my house in Arkansas.
I bought the wife an 87 (I think) Mustang GT when she was stationed in New Mexico. I hit 130 in it on the highway between Alamogordo and El Paso, let off because I thought the top was going to fly off. It had more.

Held 130-140 for a nice stretch driving into a Casper, WY in a 2016 911 Turbo S Cabriolet.
Smooth roads and the car felt like it was only going 75.
