I have heard stories of surgeons who got called in to do a surgery and didn't remember the surgery because they were so drunk. Pilots used to fly drunk all the time until the shift in culture rejected operating vehicles while intoxicated. Do you have any personal experience with being drunk on the job?

Never been drunk at work. I feel like that would put me over the line from just a drunk, to an alcoholic.

I was 16 and went to my job at subway drunk on purpose.... this girl I wanted to bang invited me to six flags. I said "u gotta give me about 30 mins then come get me" got fired in 15 and was at six flags within the hour. Got laid didn't care about the scolding I got from the parents the next day.

One time I threw a guitar into the audience, Perfectly fine ESP LTD EC-1000ET.

That was a combo of benzos and alcohol though.

Showed up at my job bartending at Lone Star in BR shitfaced my Soph year on gameday. It was a night game and I had been tailgating all day.

The manager somehow coaxed a girl to get me out of my keys and then told me 'you have to go home' and got taken off the schedule for a week as punishment. My buddy came pick me up and I went to the LSU Auburn game

The only time I have ever been "drunk" at work was... When I went out on a Thursday night and got as drunk as I probably have ever gotten.. Stayed out late, got about 3 hrs of sleep, woke up and went to work and was still feeling drunk.

I usually get pretty loaded if I have a presentation to give. Of course, that also means my bosses are usually there, so I have to be pretty careful. I'll catch my self stuttering a lot, etc., but I play it off as nervousness.

Depends on what you're drinking.

Circa 2000 I was a Chinese food delivery driver. It was normal to drink a few beers while delivering. There was a Saturday when a buddy of mine was supposed to work for me that night so I was day drinking whiskey at the lake all day. I can't remember what happened but he backed out and I had to deliver that night. Driving the speed limit to avoid getting pulled over made for a painfully long night. I can't remember if I made good money that night or not but it was an awful night nonetheless.

Btw... I was NOT drinking beer while delivering that night.

I used to show up to my summer jobs in high schools still hammered from the night before, but I don't think that counts.
I'd have to go with tailgating all day for the LSU-Auburn game and then riding my bike to my shift at Ruth's Chris went everyone else when to the game. The bike ride was miserable but the shift went by surprisingly fast.

There was a Fourth of July one year that I was puking in a garbage can at work when no one was looking. By the time work was over, I could barely stand up.

We had a 2 month project like 6 years ago that required working 8 am to 4 am almost everyday for 2 months. After the regular crew left at 5, we'd start drinking and order a bunch of trays of food. We didn't get smashed, but we made it fun. Billing 2 days in 1 was awesome too.
