It goes to the store.

But this is crap. Then why isn’t it on an order I pick up?

They should do away with the “delivery fee.” They’re hurting drivers’ tips. I specifically factor in that fee and look at it as part of the tip. Sorry drivers.

This isn’t funny and sounds so douche. You took a funny concept and murdered that shite.

When I delivered pizzas as a kid, we got part of the delivery fee. It was between $1-2, and the place kept another dollar or so.

Uh, without delivery, the store doesn't need to pay a delivery driver and insurance rates.

This is correct. The driver doesn't see any of it.

Bull shite...my very close friend, LF owns over 250 locations...drivers get paid part of that fee...it just goes to the store "officially" first..then is used the pay the driver.....

The rest goes to insurance for the company in relation to delivery and maybe a little profit for the pizza company.

Bingo. This is exactly what a delivery fee pays for. As well as re-investment in new technologies for improving pos delivery systems/time/accuracy.
Yall welcome.

The driver usually gets around .95-1.25 per delivery depending on gas prices.

How many deliveries does a driver per hour on a typical night? It seems like they've got to be making $15 or $20 per hour (including tips) to justify their time, plus fuel, insurance, maintenance, etc on their vehicle.

I know exactly jackshit about fast food and pizza delivery, but there's no fricking way I'm delivering pizza to the miserly cocksuckers of the OT for a dollar a pie.

Back 15-20 years ago that is about what they were making. Think it was just under min wage and a dollar a pie. Plus tips.

The guys I knew that delivered claimed 20/hr was easy to do. Plus they were a small place so they could name their price delivering out of the delivery area.

Doesn't Papa Johns and other places pay their drivers the waiter pay rate, which is less than the minimum wage for the kitchen staff? If so, I wonder if all pizza places that deliver do the same now?

Cool. With that reasoning, then every time I buy a pizza I pay the driver. I mean, it goes to the store first and then is used to pay the driver.

I think I averaged out around $12-$13 per hour. The job was kick arse, though. If I hit hard times and needed a second job, I'd be a pizza delivering mofo.

Who gets the "delivery charge" fee? Pizza boy or the store?

I was working delivery at pizza hut , in college, when they started this like 15 years ago. I lost alot of tips because people thought it was included. We only got like 15 cent out of the 2 dollars. This was implemented because of the high gas prices at the time. Well it been going on dam 15 years now and gas has went down and have they stop charging for this ? that would be a "no".

I just do carry out. $7 per large.

Delivery they are $12 each, plus charge plus tip. Adds $7-15 dollars and 30-45 minute wait. When I could drive a mile each way and have it in ten.

If even 1% of people buying a pizza fall for this then Domino's has won bigly.
