Order pizza for delivery...then a "delivery charge" of $3. Then a tip of $3-4

Who gets the "delivery charge" fee? Pizza boy or the store?

Pretty sure it's on the confirmation page when you order that the delivery driver doesn't get that money.

Not sure, my chefs hand-make my pizzas to order. I think I have an owner of a pizza chain in my contacts somewhere, let me see if my secretary can get ahold of them and I’ll get back to you

It’s just like the Ticketmaster convenience fee. You pay it so you don’t have to drive to a store.

I mean the driver gets a small salary, so in theory that delivery charge sort of goes to them

Maybe it's before you submit the order. I've seen it multiple times. That doesn't go to the driver though. That goes to the franchise. It's absurd but it is what it is.

You should offer to pay the next order's delivery charge forward.

This is correct. The driver doesn't see any of it.

You don’t think they’re going to bring it to your doorstep for free do you?

I think it says it isn't a tip.

One of the guys here is a delivery boy. I think they get a dollar a pizza or something.

They get paid an hourly rate which is partially absorbed by the delivery fee.

The rest goes to insurance for the company in relation to delivery and maybe a little profit for the pizza company.

When I worked at Pizza Hut for a few months like 5 years ago, we didn't. That may vary from franchise location to franchise location, however. I believe they did give a small amount per delivery to offset gas. However, we only got paid $4 something while driving.
