Shar Pei

Have had two. Really good dogs but can be rather independent and aloof.

First lived to fourteen and the current one is twelve. Getting one from a good breeder is very important to avoid health issues and short lifespans.

a friend of mine had one of these. absolutely terrifying animal when it was growling at you. super loyal to his owner. he would let it outside and it would prowl the perimeter of his house first and then come back and lay by his feet. it was amazing to see.

I have found they scare the shite out of people because they mistake their ridge for their hackles being up. They also have a bark that will rattle your eardrums but I guess you need that when you are baying a large game like lions. They are sometimes called the Navy Seals of Dogs. They are fiercely loyal and fearless almost to a fault.

They are a great dog but there are a ton of great dog breeds, I love our Bassets too and they are near polar opposites in almost every way. The Ridgebacks spend all day running and pumping iron in the back yard looking like gym rats at the end of a cutting stack and the Bassets just lay on the sofa on the patio watching them thinking that looks like work... maybe tomorrow.

I get that this is better, but how is something attached to collar like an Air Tag or the Tile for pets that uses Amazon Sidewalk especially if making sure battery is charged can be inconsistent in household?

AirTag has to be in range of an iPhone to give any location data, and it’s not nearly as reliable as a real GPS unit

The charge lasts about 3 months on these things so it’s not a big concern on that front

A single female friend of ours has a jet black female that she had trained as a guard dog. Every time we go there I’m afraid she’s gonna bite me.

. “Jake” would be a good name for one of those.

Might have to take this suggestion.

German Shepherd sheds like crazy and just recently got put on some antibiotics for her skin turning black in areas.

Good well mannered dog. When I get home she follows or leads me everywhere including to the bathroom where I cannot close the door. She will wait till I am finished.

I am just sorry an ankle bitting chihuahua will not do that.
