What is "The Color Run"? Is it just some kind of happiness festival for kids?

The website says it is a run to "celebrate those who make the world brighter"
What does that mean?
Are they celebrating John 3:20?
It kinda gives a Joe Biden groomy vibe. All the ads have kids, but all the videos show adults with their mouths gaping open.

Youngest stepdaughter had one years ago and they ran around school grounds (middle school) and colored powder is thrown all over and around them to color them all up. They had a blast.

It's like the liberal version of the Spartan Run/Tough Mudder type event. For profit running event that uses colored chalk and tutus to convince people to pay $50 to run a track

Its a 5k run for non 5k runners.
It's all about getting colored chalk, etc thrown on you as you "run" the 5k.
I don't think it's even timed, unheard of for a 5k race.
Generally kinda fun to do on an otherwise boring Saturday morning.
Caution: you may receive a cheap t shirt with a rainbow on it that looks like it should be from a gay pride event.

It's a fun way for young people to get outside, get some exercise and hang out.

You wear a white t-shirt and "run" (I use that term loosely) and along the route people throw colored powder at you. As you sweat, it mixes with the power and then you end up with color all over our body ahd shirt. People keep the now tye-die shirt as a memento.
