What is the best dog breed?
Posted by TulaneFan

I would say Golden Retriever. They are like the polar opposite of a pitbull. Smart as a whip, easy to train, great with kids.
Awesome hunting dogs, great with other animals. Overall just really good dogs and I can’t think of any serious flaw with them

They can get smelly faster than a lab in my experience. Only downside with the longer hair.

Goldens are badass dogs.
We’ve had aussie’s and border collies and we loved those dogs like no other.
Labs are great dogs too.

Aren't they prone to health problems? Seizures, nerve issues, etc?
I love labs myself. Have had a few. Just helping list flaws.

Golden Retriever.
great dogs the only problem is they need constant attention.
Definitely between labs or goldens for the best breed IMO

Depends on what you want out of a dog. If you want a dog that is a great family dog and will fight to the death to protect your family, Great Pyrenees.

Goldens require an incredible amount of attention. I love them but they can get exhausting.

Beagle, but mine ain’t the typical one
I am partial to bird dogs, so:
1. Llewellin Setters- Grace, love their style, close hunting dogs. They can be both pets and bird dogs, and move from both worlds easily.
2. Brittany Spaniels - Again, close hunting dogs. Every Brittany I have had, or shot behind has been an intense, hard-working bird dog. They don't have the grace and style of a setter, but the have similar personalities.
3. English Pointer - The cyborgs of bird dogs. Love their athleticism, intensity, style, etc, but their personality lacks as they can't seem to cross over into a pet.

I've had and babysat a dozen different breeds.
Standard Poodles and doodles have been the best.
