We were discussing this as well the other day. Most of our friends up here in NJ that have kids old enough to drive, the kids either get a license and never really use it or choose not to get one. Uber and Lyft make it easy to not have one and you can order clothes and what not online. And public transportation is excellent up this way

many ITT think so highly of themselves that the idea of anything different from the way they were raised or experienced life is the sole reason for the world not being what they want/expect

Is this a thing? I was one of the youngest people in my HS class so I didn’t get my license until junior year started. I remember longing for it.

Does he have a job?

He had a job the first summer he was legally allowed to. He was a counselor at the Audubon Zoo camp. He didn’t work last summer bc of COVID.

This summer he’s got a few things lined up but he plays baseball and trains quite a bit so his time is limited. He’s going to be a senior so he’s concentrating on the ACT and baseball. But we told him he has to get a job. Don’t care what it is. But he has to do something.

He’s in high school.

No, why you pay for his Waitr.

If that existed when Scruffy was younger, the old man would have laughed at any request.

Scruffy doesn’t like paying for his own waitr.

Cheaper to drive and pick it up.

Kids are being raised/brainwashed to see dependence as a good thing.
Driving is a symbol of independence and freedom.

The dudes with cars are still going to be the ones getting laid.

He likes to use Postmates. Food is food.

You never had pizza delivered when you were in high school?

My oldest got hers as soon as it was humanly possible and my youngest is just waiting for 16 and already telling me what kind of car she wants.

However, they get frustrated at the fact that I work a lot and can’t take them places.

I cannot even believe the premise of this thread but looks like OP isn’t exactly wrong based on responses

I’m not sure there was one thing in life I wanted more that I had to wait for than my DL.

probably because the kid doesn't have their own car. I didn't get my own car until I graduated h.s., so I was in no rush for a license. My parents were using the 2 cars we had, so there was no point in getting it until I had a car.

Nah, she's almost too perfect when it comes to not doing bad things. My wife calls her the house Narc, because she gives her mom weird looks when my wife is having a beer. Not sure why my wife cares, we're grown adults with 3 kids, why wouldn't we be having a drink?

I've been driving since I was 12. Learned on my Grandpa's tractor and pickup. His pickup had holes in the floorboard and 3 on the tree, a Ford F-100.
