Our friend told us the other day he bought his 17 year old son a Jeep and told him all he has to do is get a part time job to pay a portion of the insurance, but the kid doesn't want to so the Jeep just hangs out at home uninsured. That's wild to me.

Your friend’s child is a reflection of their parenting

Kids that age don't shower after gym class anymore either. My cousins kid told me that nowadays you are the weird one if you do practice good hygiene.

eta: in retrospect I look at this negatively though. Definitely a "failure to launch" type of thing going on that I didn't fix in my life til much later. Lots of millennials have that though I think

This is kinda the way I view it (no offense to you meant at all). Someone who has reached the age of dating, going out with friends, etc. not wanting the freedom to do that seems like a bit of a late bloomer/immaturity thing to me.

Shower? Hell they don't even make kids dress out for PE anymore.

Because they didn't grow up watching this classic.

Me and my friends wanted nothing more than to be able to (legally) drive. Once I got my license, I drove everywhere. My best friend lived 10 houses down from me, and I refused to walk; I drove to his house just because I could.

eta: And once we all had a license, none of us wanted to be a passenger. So, whenever we all went somewhere, it was like the movie Swingers where everyone took their own car wherever they went.

Well according to liberals, minorities are too stupid to go get an ID/license so that probably has something to do with it.

No offense taken. I'm an older millennial (born in 80s) and I see in my childhood early signs of the coddling and the failure to launch that younger millennials have 100x worse now. Luckily I grew out of it and I'm married with a normal life and make fun of the kids these days but I was a fricking weirdo too.

Sitting in traffic sucks, but sitting in traffic while behind the wheel sucks more.

We didn't even have the option to shower after PE when I was in highschool like 10 years ago.

And I'm thankful for that. No one back then had any interest in getting naked in front of each other.

Because it requires responsibility

Lot of kids today want no part of that.

That's exactly what it is. Entitled Soy boys rather have mommy do the driving for them or pay for their Ubers.

Jesus Christ, what the frick is wrong with your school? They made you go do physical activity and didn’t allow you to shower? We were required to shower, and I grew up in a trashy little town with trashy people.

If you scared of a few limp dicks exposed, you got a long road ahead in this cut throat country.

My kid got his but wasn’t overly eager about it. I’ve noticed this too though, I think they are so connected online that there’s less desire to drive places

We never had the option; nobody ever showered in any PE class I had in middle or high school, in the late 90s/early 00s.

Just guessing, but it's expensive to maintain all that extra plumbing and impossible to monitor the kids. I went to public school in EBR and we just had gym equipment stored in the showers.

I don't even think they had showers at my schools.. If they did, I think it was only in the weight lifting/football locker room.

St. Alphonsus, Redemptorist, Starkey, and Central High

If there were any, we certainly weren't allowed to use them. Time between classes was like 4 minutes.
