good options from corporate America

None. Wake up, it's a new America.

Make your own business. What are your strengths? Passions? The world now can be tailored for you if you want it. Depends on how bad you want it and what you want.

If you want some desk gig where you get a nice salary and benefits and stability IMO those are gone or will be.

Do you have a technical background? Look into the AEE and becoming a certified energy manager.

Basically you audit buildings for energy usage. Growing industry right now.

If you don’t mind traveling, I’d look into over the road trucking. Super high demand, good pay, and you can see the country.

I Beekeep on the side. It doesn’t pay until you get all the hardware for all the hives you want to have and the equipment to process honey. How much Capital do you have? How hard do you want to work? Takes a lot of time learn how to do it and do it well (keeping bees healthy and from dying/leaving).

Write a book about a 48 or 49 year old man that's decided to change careers because they don't like their current job anymore.

I agree. Houston has a lot more opportunities than most places.

Bartend at one of the casinos on the gulf coast. Most of the bartenders have zero personality and act like they want to be anywhere but at work. It seems like if you are friendly and attentive ypu could rake in the tips.

I would get a cdl and drive flatbeds/dump trucks. Steady work and few to no overnights depending on the employer

Truck driver or sales/recruiting if you're outgoing. I know a lot of older guys go into sales go into sales to stop the wear and tear on their body and are usually good at it unless they are socially awkward. Hell, my dad isn't the most social guy and he made a killing in oilfield sales in his 50's.

My advice:

Search in afwful towns that have tons of businesses like:
-Houston
-Washington DC metro
-Philly
-Cali if you can stomach it

I know DC metro is desperate to hire people for all kinds of jobs. Foreigners fly in, start interviewing and get great jobs quickly.

I have a CDL and would like to go back to driving but I don't think my lower back would allow me to. I like trucking but it's very hard on you physically due to just sitting all day. At least that is my experience. I've worked in veterinary distributor sales for a while and agree that sales can be a good option. Grow some thick skin first. I'm going to stay in the job I've got til my wife and I are Medicare eligible and then we're thinking of starting a business.

(44). My last kid just flew the coop. I’m getting my pilots license. Don’t know if it’ll be a career change but I’ve always dreamed of flying and am finally in a position to do it.

Truck driving is a hard life. It’s also rough on your back and the sedentary aspect isn’t good for you.
