Ha. When I saw OP’s thread title, I immediately thought “Man In The High Castle” and then recalled how shitty it ended.

They never developed a heavy bomber to carry an atomic bomb

They had Von Braun. If there had been a bomb, there would have been transportation.

The nazis had discovered rockets and bombed London with them. It wouldn’t have taken them long to discover long range missiles. It would have taken something like a submarine bringing one to the shore for the us to be hit. Oh yeah, German subs were in the gulf so they could have done it.

They would've dropped the first one on Moscow and hoped the Allies would be forced to surrender.

Little known fact: the development of the B29 Super Fortress cost more than the development of the bomb.

I'm fine with that. One had to land. The other one had to fall.

Life would be more regimented. No fringe groups with purple hair. We'd be paying the government for something that never materialized.

Moscow? Definitely. New York and Washington, no. The Germans didn't have a way to deliver an atomic bomb across that distance at any point in the war.

I think it would be possible on a one way trip. I read online where the maximum fuel load for combat on a B-29 Superfortress was around 3600 miles. A flight from Paris to New York is around 3600 miles. The Enola Gay took off near Guam and the flight from Guam to Okinawa is 1500 miles.

I'm not sure what type of bombers Germany had at the time to compare it to the B-29.

By the time they could deliver it here, we would have it as well.

Of course, keep in mind they were working on submarine launched missiles.

So they would use it on Moscow or the Soviet army but us? MAD would kick in.
