I was there. So much fun as a kid whipping those oranges.

re: What are some good Creole or Cajun spots in ATL?

PoBoy Shop is really the only good one. Big Easy is good for a drink, but the food is mid at best. I hit the PoBoy Shop up at least once a month but it is a hike to get there. The chain if Louisiana Bistros is awful and frozen.
Dinner in Mountain Brook, AL
Posted by Dirtysouthdeacon on 10/29/25 at 8:37 am
My sister and her husband are touring some schools with my niece. My niece is staying with friends for the bama v OK game, but since the hotels are sold out, they are staying at a hotel in Mountain Brook area. Any recommendations? They want a good meal, but I am sure do not plan to bring formal attire. TIA
re: if ‘It s how you raise them’ is true, how can someone adopt shelter adult pit mixes?
Posted by Dirtysouthdeacon on 10/22/25 at 11:57 am to LemmyLives
We adopted a pit mix as a puppy that was on the streets (with 15 other puppies) from the Bahamas. We were there for vacation and ran into the family fostering them and ended up with one. She is the sweetest dog 98% of the time, but she is food driven and food protective. She almost killed our 15 year old king charles over a bag of popcorn that hit the floor. We love her to death, but have to feed them separate and put her up when we eat. Somethings cant be unlearned and fighting for food on the street is apparently one of them.

Five is also fun and more relaxed. It is downtown. But they just have five apps and five entrees each night. Cool vibe and can have a drink at the bar.

I worked at Rax in HS in BR. I broke my arm and had a full cast from shoulder to wrist. I was on the schedule for the next day and called in to let them know. I worked the take out window mostly. The manager said I was fired if I did not come in. I was like, I just compound fractured my arm and he fired me. Oh well. Still loved the food.

The times my parents sprung for R and K's were indeed glorious. The shrimp platter was just so good with the one bowl of shrimp au gratin. Rax did hit but so did Danvers.

Haha, maybe you are right. I just know that if I missed one I had to work to find it early on. But you are likely right.

Alot of the fun and way before you could just record it and watch it later. If you missed it, you were scrambling. I guess you could record it on VCR if you knew you were missing it.
re: What band shirts have you worn over the years?
Posted by Dirtysouthdeacon on 8/14/25 at 1:31 pm to Pettifogger
D n' C played a friend of mine's bday party last year, so I got a free shirt. I wear it all the time even though I have not listen to them in 20+ years.

Hard day and RIP. First time I had to do it, I came home wrecked and took one look at her bed and collar and toys and threw them all away. Then regretted it the next day. It will be hard, but get another one. It will not be the same, but it will be great.

We took our 18 and 19 year olds last summer and they loved it. Neither loved museums but there are kids everywhere and they could drink and sit outside and interact. But they did have each other which helped. They loved the independence and vibes.
re: One day in Paris?
Posted by Dirtysouthdeacon on 8/13/25 at 9:22 am to eph4v29
We had a similar timeframe in Paris. Big mistake was taking all our bags out of the Paris airport. We had to wait in security and then pay a big fee per bag to recheck them the next morning. If possible, I would leave them with the airline and take an overnight bag. We ended up just cabbing from the hotel to The Tower and then asking the hotel for a rec on a really nice french meal to end the trip. We were tired from almost three weeks in Italy.

Went earlier this summer and my son and I split the bone in filet and the prime rib. Both were great but I am a sucker for a good prime rib.
