re: Need a recommendation for Pinot Noir
Posted by Dirtysouthdeacon on 4/2/26 at 9:39 am to Buck Dancer
Meiomi is my least favorite Pinot. It is much heavier than most Pinot and because it is a blend of Pinot grapes can vary. I do not think it even drinks like a Pinot. BUT I know alot of folks who love it. I would go to a wine store and ask what they recommend in that range.

My best friend and college roommate took his life unexpectedly 3 weeks ago. I am over 50 and have been crying while alone a good bit. Funeral/CofL is next weekend. I imagine a good bit of tears from my group of friends. F*** mental illness.

When at a restaurant: "I am going to do the chicken and to drink, I will do a glass of Chardonnay."

My dad is retired and 78 himself. He volunteers at the hospital 3-4 days a week and pushes folks in wheelchairs on walks around the grounds to get them outside. He loves it but he would talk to a tree if he thought it was listening.

If you have not, pay attention to how awesome Rick Danko is throughout. RIP
re: Atlanta area posters. Do you like the Buck Belue show in the evenings or the mornings?

Dimino is a great guy. Our kids played sports together and I have traveled with him several times. Totally chill, funny AF, and cool. He knows more about baseball than anyone I have ever met.

I have had three sequias. They are great for start a family, pack a pack n play, etc. But (first world prob) they are not giving you a loaner when you come in with an issue. They are not washing it unless you ask. They are great, but you are paying a nice tag for a limited or better and then you are on your own. We loved the first two, not the last one but we should have gone smaller and just made the mistake. Honestly, I like the highlander better depending on your family. Lexus sucks
re: People leaving perfectly good stuff out on the curb
Posted by Dirtysouthdeacon on 12/16/25 at 11:52 am to Rankest
We moved about 5 years ago and we had a good bit of stuff that was old or out of style that we could probably sell for $10 or something, but I just kept it in the garage and moved a piece or two down daily. Old office chair, coffee table the kids got marker on etc. The funniest was we had an old couch that was a spleeper. It was in the basement of the old house and we did not want it a the new house, so I dragged it to the curb. It smelled of cat pee as well. It got picked up in minutes and then the next morning it was back in front of the house. I guess old boys wife did not approve of the curb sofa. I called the city and told them someone dumbed it there bc it got rained on after they brought it back.

I was there. So much fun as a kid whipping those oranges.

PoBoy Shop is really the only good one. Big Easy is good for a drink, but the food is mid at best. I hit the PoBoy Shop up at least once a month but it is a hike to get there. The chain if Louisiana Bistros is awful and frozen.
Dinner in Mountain Brook, AL
Posted by Dirtysouthdeacon on 10/29/25 at 8:37 am
My sister and her husband are touring some schools with my niece. My niece is staying with friends for the bama v OK game, but since the hotels are sold out, they are staying at a hotel in Mountain Brook area. Any recommendations? They want a good meal, but I am sure do not plan to bring formal attire. TIA
re: if ‘It s how you raise them’ is true, how can someone adopt shelter adult pit mixes?
Posted by Dirtysouthdeacon on 10/22/25 at 11:57 am to LemmyLives
We adopted a pit mix as a puppy that was on the streets (with 15 other puppies) from the Bahamas. We were there for vacation and ran into the family fostering them and ended up with one. She is the sweetest dog 98% of the time, but she is food driven and food protective. She almost killed our 15 year old king charles over a bag of popcorn that hit the floor. We love her to death, but have to feed them separate and put her up when we eat. Somethings cant be unlearned and fighting for food on the street is apparently one of them.

Five is also fun and more relaxed. It is downtown. But they just have five apps and five entrees each night. Cool vibe and can have a drink at the bar.

I worked at Rax in HS in BR. I broke my arm and had a full cast from shoulder to wrist. I was on the schedule for the next day and called in to let them know. I worked the take out window mostly. The manager said I was fired if I did not come in. I was like, I just compound fractured my arm and he fired me. Oh well. Still loved the food.

The times my parents sprung for R and K's were indeed glorious. The shrimp platter was just so good with the one bowl of shrimp au gratin. Rax did hit but so did Danvers.
