It was lightning pretty good in my area and it was close.. I kept getting a notification on my phone "lightning detected 0.1 miles from your location" at one point it was 0.0 miles.

This went on for a good 20 mins or so.. It was about to rain, but during the time the lightning was close it wasn't raining. Down the road from he I could see some kids outside riding bikes and parents outside talking.

Whatever people decide to do in any situation, that's on them (before someone brings it up, yet just like the vaccine, I don't care if you don't get it. But when there is a rise in cases and the majority of them are in non vaccinated people and then there are places where every has to wear a mask then it affects me so its not the same so don't try to compare it).

Anyway, I admit it. I am a pussy when it comes to lightning. When I was a kid I think lightning hit our house and burned our TV and that might have created my fear of lightning.. But what is the common instinct when lightning is close? What about if your kids are outside when it is close?

Points for not calling it "lightening". Still gets a downvote, though.

Really, nothing you can do. You can stay low, grounded, and away from water; but if it’s your time, it’s your time….

Yeah, but I like to play the odds. If the house is burning I am not going to stay inside and think "it will probably go out". That might not be the best example.., But also, like I said, I have an irrational fear of lightning as well so I am aware my instinct is more sensitive.

We were driving up hwy 16 in Watson and lightning struck an electric pole next to Live Oak veterinary clinic about a half hour or so ago. I hate lightning but when we left home it wasn't raining.

I was at the gas station an hour ago and a lightning bolt hit the ground like 300 or so yards away and my eardrums almost bursted it was so loud.

i Tried to bury myself in the marsh one time.

A friend and I were running “ cross country” in Terrebonne Parish. Each in our own airboat.
We were heading into a black squall that had a lot of lightning. No way around it.

We stopped. When the bolts starting popping I wanted to distance my self from that big steel cage on that aluminum boat. Got out into the marsh grass and laid flat and was very concerned about getting struck.
