My house was struck during one of the crazy storms this spring. Fried most of the electronics in the house. It has definitely caused my household to be anxious when lightening gets close. Even the dog starts to whine and hops up on me (not a lap dog).

was at the gas station an hour ago and a lightning bolt hit the ground like 300 or so yards away and my eardrums almost bursted it was so loud.

That’s the ones when yo see the flash and hear the noise.

Admittedly, I’m pretty scared of lightning. I don’t typically go outside at all during an active electrical storm. If I have to, I run to the car and back.

I blame social media and the new lightning radius feature on TWC app.

If in a state of grace, hope that it hits me.

If not, pray.

We were driving up hwy 16 in Watson and lightning struck an electric pole next to Live Oak veterinary clinic about a half hour or so ago. I hate lightning but when we left home it wasn't raining.

There must be a lot of lightning across the area (I guess.. the baton rouge area). I wouldn't be surprised if there has been damage in other areas.. At least by me, it was pretty bad.. but like I mentioned in other post, I probably think it's worse than it actually is just because I become hyper-aware of it

Yes, I thought about turning it off.. Because it is much more in your face when you are getting notifications, but on the other hand.. I want to know so I can be aware.

Do not carry a metal umbrella. That is how I got struck. If you do get struck get to a hospital. They will do an EKG and EEG. Be prepared for the possibility of a seizure in the coming days. Your body temperature will tend to run a degree higher.

You crouch into a ball and get up on the balls of your feet. Make ground contact as minimal as possible.

FWIW the reason you are protected from lightning in your car is not because you are insulated from the ground by your car tires, you are protected because that metal frame around you is a Faraday cage.

Like this:

Furthermore, if the purpose of the "tin foil hat" wearing conspiracy theorists is to block electromagnetic radiation from entering their cranial area, well, the science supports this reasoning. The "tin-foil" or aluminum foil acts like a Faraday cage blocking electromagnetic radiation.

It's the same reason you get terrible cell coverage inside metal buildings and have to step outside to get a cell signal to make calls or check TD.

Roll. Roll as fast as your little arms can go.

But put your mask on first, because you need to be safe from everything.

Whatever people decide to do in any situation, that's on them (before someone brings it up, yet just like the vaccine, I don't care if you don't get it. But when there is a rise in cases and the majority of them are in non vaccinated people and then there are places where every has to wear a mask then it affects me so its not the same so don't try to compare it).

What the hell is the point of this paragraph? Do you ever wonder why you get down vote carpet bombed all the time?
