What do you do in your family to keep your shoes fresh?

Obviously, alternating shoes and letting them breathe is the best thing you can do. What are some other things to do that work?
Sometimes I put powder in my tennis shoes or dress shoes to absorb sweat. That works decently well. Also, I’ve put tennis shoes in the washing machine before as well, and that helps a bit.
Any other methods for keeping your shoes fresh and smelling great? What are some home remedies that you guys utilize?

I don’t sniff my shoes… I don’t sniff my family’s shoes. They don’t sniff my shoes.
Why do you sniff shoes?

Wooden shoe trees in dress shoes and these packets in sneakers when not being worn. The main thing is only using wool socks, not cotton.

Throw a leftover dryer sheet in them

Rotating them makes a big difference. I'm a coach, and put in a ton of moving every day.
I buy spray deodorant/antiperspirant. Keep it in closet on shoe rack. Quick hit inside the shoes before I put them on every day, and quick hit when I take them off. Works better than any "shoe related" product i ever tried.

What are you doing in them that they don’t smell “fresh”. If your feet stink, that’s the problem you need to address. Not the shoes.

Always wear socks.
Seriously.
Seriously.

Make sure my feet are dry before socks, sometimes I spray right guard on my feet, I keep one pair on the porch in the sun to dry while using other pair. You may need an exfoliate your feet. Soak in tea. Wash your shoes.

My buddy Kalunda (not his real name) puts his sneakers in a deep freezer to kill the germs.

Wear socks? How hard is it?

Not much in my case. I was born with a condition called fungal feet and my shoes, socks & feet all smell like the rotting carcass of a Chinese carp.
