Pretty much the same things I do during the Tri-Wizard Tournament, Vermintide, The Purge, No Shave November, Annoy Squidward Day, and any other fictional holiday: Do my best to be kind to myself and to others, have a drink if I want, eat what I want, have at least 1 orgasm a day, and always try to learn something new.

I'm not Catholic

I am and still don't participate. If I make it up to the Pearly Gates and St. Peter sends me to hell for eating bacon on an arbitrarily decided day in 1997, I've got no shot of being in heaven in the first place. I sacrifice damn near everything I have or earn for the good of my family. I'm all set on the "give something up" part.

Nothing says penance like going to an all you can eat buffet on Fridays with crawfish and fried catfish.

RIP The Times Grill Lent offerings and the OLOL and BRG nurses downing 8lbs of crawfish on lunch break.

I’m not very religious or spiritual, but I do try to take some time during lent to reflect on where I am as a person and if I’m meeting expectations I place on myself. I don’t give things up, nor really take on anything, but more just make sure I’m being a good person and treating people well.

Well, I don't go around eating fish on Fridays and acting like it's a fricking sacrifice.

There’s nothing harder than giving up steak on Fridays and having to settle for chargrilled oysters and fried catfish atchafalaya

The hallmarks of Lent are prayer, fasting and almsgiving. They are small sacrifices designed to help us detach from material good/goods and share in Christ's sacrifice, again, in a small way just to change our focus.

I will try to add extra prayer/prayer time each day.
My practice for decades, now, is to eat meat only one meal per day and just a peanut butter sandwich with small salad for lunch.-------> That leads to extra gassiness, which can be a sacrifice for those around me.
As for the alms, I will try to put aside a little and give it where it may be needed. Years ago I began fasting from soda and putting aside the money I would drop in the Coke machine each day. That eventually led to me no longer enjoying and drinking soda, so now, I have to find another revenue stream for my almsgiving.

I eat meat, because not doing so is a stupid tradition.

Especially in Louisiana

I go vegetarian on Fridays since I don’t think seafood is a sacrifice.

I’m going to practice gratitude and work on giving up complaining.

Fasting, especially today and Fridays during Lent. Mainly for health with the added benefit of saving money. Lent gives an easy rationalization to start.

We should all be skipping more meals anyways. I know I have more than enough calories stored up to survive skipping some meals.
