I’m a Jack London fan,

That is awesome, what are some of your favorites?

My first Jack London story was To Build a Fire in the 7th grade.

The thought of -75F just blew my mind as a southern kid who'd never even seen snow.

I am intentionally minimalist when to avoid this type of habit. Vinyl records and computer equipment would be the closest.

Travel-related books, charts, maps, etc.

I like to have hard copies of those things when I travel rather than exclusively trust a phone or other electronic device.

I collected too many US coins.

I’m fixing to remedy that though, within the next year, anyway.

Problems.

I collect problems, expensive ones, constantly.

Sports cards. Last year I was doing good keeping them organized and moving. Now I just buy shite and add to the stacks on the desk.

I collected bourbon for a bit. I have close to 200 bottles. Maybe 5-10 are open. I only drink a glass every 2-3 months.

It was less about the bourbon, but the thrill of the chase.

Wine and bourbon.

I have about 300 bottles of wine and 75 bottles of bourbon/scotch.

Haven’t opened a bottle of wine in 6 months. Haven’t had an old fashioned in even longer. It’s a compulsion.

I have 30+ bottles of Marilyn Monroe branded wine that never intend to drink.

Damn.

Yea, that’s a hell of a compulsion.

My father in law does that with whiskey.

He is the first person to teach me about the “buy but don’t drink, it builds value” mindset.

This was after he gave me a really expensive bottle of whiskey that I was, apparently, not supposed to drink.

Yeah I’ve been buying hats lately too. I wear hats always now that I’m going bald. My latest hats are Houston Oilers and Montreal Expos. Next will be a Cleveland Indians hat.

I get a lot of compliments around Houston when I wear the Oilers hat. People want that to come back. Nobody gaf about Texans.
